Well then, chuck a nade out of the porthole and use the time it hopefully buys to reload my gun! Then check again after the 'splosion and shoot anything hostile.

Fine then! I don't necessarilly need a door just yet, find a window or porthole or anywhere else that someone might be peeking outside, say, to shoot my APC from, and shove my SMG into the openings and spray down the lookie-loos.

A grenade lands at your feet with an impact fuse!

In any case, catch up to the APC.  Take the gun from the guy who burned to death inside.  Shoot any enemies who become visible.

[Run!: 2]
You continue running towards the APC. However, your mind starts to lose urgency when the valencine's hallucinogenic component kicks in and you realize how beautiful the sky and dusty badlands really are. Even the clouds of blood drifting on the breeze are beautiful in their own ways.

Then someone shoots you.
[You died! +1AP]

"GOD DAMN IT, some body stole my shells!"
Find a porthole and use my rifle to shot anyone that goes around or is inside the APC.

[Shoot!: 6]
There's a guy approaching. You peek through the scope and see him, then squeeze the trigger. For some reason the gun was set to auto rather than semi-auto, it rattles in your hands for a second or two as you freeze up. When the gun stops your ears are ringing.

You peer at the guy you shot. He's in the dirt, and... his backpack is on fire?

And then it lights up as a fuming star for two moments before suddenly going off, cracking the earth. The bang isn't heard, but felt in your bones. The shuttle rattles and shakes around you, and then it passes.

Well great, now you can't hear anything at all!

((I don't think heating something that is right above us to a ridiculous degree is very smart. Worst case scenario we become +metal statues+. This is a finely crafted metal statue. It is encrusted with sharkmist and HMRC. On the item is an image of HMRC and Pancaek. Pancaek is laughing. The HMRC is melting. The artwork relates to the encasing of the HMRC in metal by Pancaek during the Mission of Many People.))

How do you mean the mothership wasn't contacted, didn't we put out a mayday at the start? At least that's what it said. Hell, you mentioned HC characters all have radios so we still have a means of communicating. And even if those couldn't reach home base, given we went down on our way to the infiltration, wouldn't command know where to come look for us after we don't report back? We're in a crashed shuttle with an interestingly parked APC on top in the middle of a nearly featureless desert, shouldn't be too hard to find us I'd reckon.

As for water, you're saying we don't keep any in the shuttle, nor do the mages keep any in their APC, nor do we carry basic rations on ourselves when on our way to an infiltration mission? Are we, like, super bad at our job?  :p

I guess it doesn't matter too much since it was just a test, but if possible I'd still like to keep going with this character since I rather like him (and is nice for RP purposes) so if I could reuse him next time I pick this class that'd be sweet. If that means redoing traits in case they change that's fine btw. If not and he's dead, I'll just have to come up with something else.

Carrying water with your wrecked transport isn't very helpful because you can't carry that many days of water traveling on foot. Making a strong enough radio signal needs an arcane source or a radio flare.

If you'd like to survive, you can be rescued by some nomads on camels. Maybe trade them some of your tech for transport. Still a failure because you can't get home and are effectively deserting involuntarily.

So command isn't even gonna try to look for their fancy mech and/or valuable pilot that suddenly disappeared, and the mayday at the beginning is retconned out? 

Honestly, if all that is true, then yeah I'd like for Mahsun to at least try and trade for transport and make his way back. Not sure why we couldn't at all get home though? Like do the HC not have any bases on land or anything?

It sounds a lot like whatever explanation I give you on these points is going to prompt you to ask more questions, which isn't something I want to do or frankly healthy for the game. So that's the end of that. No, they can't find you, and no, you can't walk to the nearest spaceport for a ride back home. Get back 1AP for surviving as Rifleman, though.

Was gonna propose I could perhaps spend an FP for us to get a chance at this, but if you wanna drop it then that's how it's gonna be. Shame about the RP opportunities, but ah well. On to the next mission!
