You're a bird.

But there's something special about you.  What is it?

Today is another great and glorious day inside your home.  It's a quite large cage inside a cool, interesting room.  Your cage has a good supply of water, paper, seeds, perches, and a few toys.. a round spinny thing, a good supply of sticks and a bell you can make noises with!

Outside is a big room full of humans.  Well, some of the time.  Sometimes you're alone and it's dark, sometimes there are humans doing things, and sometimes, like now, it's lit up but empty.  There's paper around, lots of it, in big sheets.  And bottles, beakers, glass containers, small metal things.. sometimes fire, sometimes big fancy humming machines, lots of cool stuff.  And sometimes the humans come to play with you and give you things.

But you haven't seen anyone for a few days.  There's still paper and water, but maybe you should do something about that?

What first?

Analyze cage for structural weaknesses.

Your cage is pretty serious.  There are two doors and a sort of plate that can cut your cage in two.  These are wired into the metal cage wall with some sort of fancy round lock thing.  The humans also move you into the other side of the cage with the wall-plate before opening up the other door, so you can't see exactly how they open them.

So the doors seem like a no go.  But maybe you can do something with the bars?

(7+1)  You chomp up a nice couple of paper balls, mind going back to the start.  For some reason they had the bottom of your cage covered in paper.  When you started eating it the humans seemed to get pretty worried, but by now they seem to have gotten the idea.  They even usually give you the tasty stuff, just crunchy enough to be pleasant.

For the moment you're full, and there's another four sheets left.

What next?

Look for any useful tools in the cage.

The perches are made of hard plastic, and they go through these little metal loops to hold them in place.  Doesn't seem that secure, and a bit of poking gives you three light wooden rods that are about half as long as you are.  They fit nicely in your beak and claws.  There is a fourth, about twice your length.  You can pick it up with some difficulty.

There's another one that's on a sort of swing thing that's a lot more fun, but it seems harder to get loose.  Maybe if you had something to help?

The water thing is soft plastic and drips water out the bottom to replace what you drink from it.  It's quite full and heavy, but soft.  It's latched to the outside of the cage, so you don't think it'll be too useful.. maaaybe you can get it off, but then it'll just fall down where you cant reach it.  Still, there's lots of water.

You do have a tray for non-paper food.  It's a metal dish, also attached to the cage, tied to two different bars by more wires.  There are also some very dry seeds in it, ancient pumpkin seeds, all dried up.  They're not as tasty as the good paper.

Then there's your toys.  You have a few other sticks, these ones made of hard plastic and of varying length.  There's also a spinning contraption, pretty large but still small enough for you to spin around with your feet.  It's made of wooden panels that seem to be well stuck into slots inside a metal rim.  It's mounted somewhat firmly across the width of an alcove in your cave.  It's stuck in there pretty solidly, you had another one but ate one of the panels.  So the new one is much tougher, but maybe you could work something with it?

There's also your bell.  It's on a thin rope hanging from the cage top, just tied off.  But you didn't want to break it, it's much harder to make ring if it isn't tied.

Lastly, there's a cloth the humans can put over your cage to make it dark.  Although you haven't done it yet, last time they used it you discovered that you could pull part of it through the bars.  It's made of some kind of unappetizing cloth, but it's sturdy and quite large, as there's enough cloth to cover most of your cage.  Right now it's just sitting on top, within easy reach.
