Why don't we take one of the sticks and try to use it to pry one of the doors open?

hide strongest/best sticks under paper
wait for humans to make cage dark
lockpick

(11)

You've been waiting for days.  And you can make it dark anytime you want, just by pulling the cloth over.  Picking it is!

Clunk.  Clunk.  Clank.  *Peck*

After a lot of tapping, and one almost-dropped stick, you need a slight change of plan.  You think you almost have it.  It's just that..

You can't see what you are doing clearly enough.  So either you need to find a way to make one of your plastic sticks a bit of a different shape, or you need to practice it somewhere where you can see what's going on, to learn 2 poke better.

For some reason, you know it'll work, if you can figure this one thing out.

Do you craft a better lockpick or do you practice poking with sticks?  And how?

Lets try to craft better lockpicks.

How do you do this?  Do you use something?  Just gnaw away at them with your beak?

Well, the sticks don't quite work, but some of the metal bits do!  They're a bit bendy and you can make a hook.

It takes a while but eventually you sort of get the lock stuck, and then you poke around with it and it goes click and the door swings open!

Freedom!  You fly around the room in happiness, eventually taking a perch on a tall machine near the far wall.

Hmm, there's a lot of stuff here.  Your cage, of course, but lots of paper, a big desk, two doors, four large machines on the far end, a wide open bench and another bench with a fancy clear cover over it.  There's also lots of cabinets and drawers.

Doors!

One door looks complicated.  There's a metal handle thing, but it doesn't move an inch when you pull on it.  You're not nearly strong enough to pull it open, and it looks locked with a big metal plate on it.  There's a keypad next to it with numbers on it.  You can push the numbers, but you have no idea what the combination is.

The other door looks simple, with a lever handle and some space around it.  Obviously a less secure door.  You can turn the handle, but can't push open the door while keeping it turned.  You can't quite squeeze under it either, you're a bit too big.  You can get a glimpse of the other room, but all you can see at the bottom is more carpeting and large pieces of furniture.

...There are MANY drawers.  (and cabinets.)

Which ones first?

-The ones in the desk.
-The ones up high, along the wall opposite your cage.
-The ones under the big open bench.
-The ones under the closed bench with the clear cover.
-The standing piece of furniture that seems to be ALL drawers.
-The human-tall one with two really big cabinets in it.
-The other human-tall one with two cabinets that hums.

Three of the four big machines also have drawers in them.  One is a big two-piece machine with one piece having slots and the other a cabinet with many, many buttons besides it.

The other two are square and have more buttons and look pretty much the same.

The last one doesn't have a slot but has an open top large enough for you.  It's also got some water in it.

..Oh, and next to it is a sink.  One of the human things that produces water.

(Yes, I expect you're going to make a terrible mess of my lovely room.)

(And yes, I'll keep track of all the junk you find.)

Papers!  So many papers.  In neat books.  They've got writing all over them.

Now you can't read, but you do know numbers.  The humans taught you what numbers were.  There's lots of numbers in the books, although you can't make sense of the writing.

Bunch of other stuff too.  It's some trouble tugging on the handles and making them fall out of the desk, and then tugging on the wooden drawers to pull them off the pile of stuff, but here's what you find in the end.

Spoiler: Desk stuff (click to show/hide)

Upon looking at the desk, there's one thing missing.  There's supposed to be something flat and metal on top of it, that opens up and lights up.  You've seen people sitting at it and doing something with their hands, while it glows at them.  It's missing.

I feel like some white-collar crime happened here, maybe.

Let's try the up-high cabinets next.
