So... about that magic system.

So, 6,000,000 years ago we were going to have a magic system implemented, and then DF for steam happened instead.

Is the magic system still on the roadmap ?

Roadmap hasn't changed at all. Try to get into the mindset of a 40-50 year development cycle.

1) STEAM (seems like quite a way to go yet)
2) Back to complete the Villains arc (which went on pause to do STEAM)
3) Improved Sieges (and basic army stuff)
That completes the "stuff to do to make the game cool before the Big Wait".

4) Myth & Magic (and rewrite of the map code). (numerous big releases to get all the parts done probably)

5) Starting Scenarios (Society & politics rewrite - almost as big as Mythgen probably...)

6) Moving Fortress Parts (boats!)

With bits relating to the world economy being introduced here and there, maybe a focused arc on that (before or after Boats).

Subject to change of course. (I imagine some of Moving Fortress Parts will turn up early just to test the new map code).

This should be number one.   I want pirates!

You also have to consider that, even if "The Big Wait" is a "loss" of time of development, the consequences of it (more money, new people involved, etc...) will probably make it a bit faster.

I have been here for 11 years, so trust me : this is what it is. DF is all about patience. If you can't enjoy what you have now and only live for "what will be", you will never be happy with this game because all the better stuff will always be ahead of us.
