(The quarters are delayed, the mechs are late, the pilots are disillusioned, and I'm already lying to them. They haven't even seen our limited training facilities or heard just how badly the last mission went. Do the Mu feel like attacking right now? Would be the cherry on top of this day I think. :P)

* Haspen writes this idea down for later.

The four Pilots of Team Flame look at each other and then nod in silent agreement.

The class trip soon begins with Ms.Gaine in charge of the highschoolers~!

Maia Sanders: No, at latest these should be yesterday night so today we would get chcked by the engineering team and have them logged into our inventory system after we receive all-clear from the engineers-

Operator: Chief Secretary?

Maia Sanders: Yes? Have you found the issue with the Suit delivery?

Operator: Uh, yes, well, check for yourself?

Sanders looks at the young tech guy with curiosity and approaches his console. They share a small chat, which is followed by silence, and then by the sight of Chief Secretary's face turning into a well-ripened beetroot. She signs something on the operator's console, takes a moment to compose herself and returns to Commander Shiek.

Maia Sanders: Bureaucratic error in the system, Commander Shiek. We should have them at the Base Site in next six hours.

That is good to hear. Thank you for both bringing the issue to my attention, and then ensuring it is resolved with minimal delay. An organisation like ours depends just as much on seamless logistics as it does our fighting units.

Please notify me when they have arrived, and once our engineers give have con0leted their assessments.

Afternoon
SOCIAL INCIDENT: The Trainees That Say Squee

Maia Sanders: Commander Shiek, um, we have the Vice-Engineering Chief wishing to meet and discuss with you a certain incident which he says is critically important-

The man in question barges into the Command Center a split-second later, fuming, and holding a datapad in his hands.

Vice Chief Engineer: COMMANDER!! I demand permission to skin that good-for-nothing desert twink! Personally!

There's brief silence before Chief Secretary 'ah's.

Maia Sanders: You mean Pilot Newy?

Vice Chief Engineer: Whatever name he is, he is bane to focus and concentration of Starlight's female engineers-in-training we happen to have. He struts into the Mecha Bay to check on the suits or 'get accustomed' with his place or whatever his justification and-and-and just look at this. Just look at this! He steps up to the holographic display and links his datapad with it.

There's security recording of one of the entrance areas to the Mecha Bay. Menetfer Newy is entering Mecha Bay while a pair of young female engineers is carrying some tool boxes. Newy is quick to approach and help, and while there's no audio feed, the girls visibly blush and seemingly try to not get Newy overburdened, but he takes two toolboxes at once and helps them carry to the nearby assembly area.

Vice Chief Engineer then switches the display to the recording from assembly area, where Newy and the two female engineers are visibly chatting and joking about, the toolboxes already delivered. He then brings two of his right hand's fingers to his lips, and sends an air smooch towards the two girls, who visibly fidget, blush, and stare at each other wide-eyed, before absconding - much to the chagrin of nearby male engineer who arrives to open the toolboxes.

The recording ends.

Vice Chief Engineer: That kid is dangerous to have around, Commander! He is like, like, like a fox in the chicken coop!

Maia Sanders: Pilot Newy has been, well, noted as 'flirty' by the Evaluation Team but here on the recording he has actually helped out with menial work. It's obvious the girls would be appreciative of his help. You sure that's a reason to 'skin' him, Vice Chief?

Vice Chief Engineer: I was talking metaphorically and you know it, Chief Secretary. But look, that's not the first time! He did that too yesterday, when the Pilots came in the morning to check out the Pluses we've received. At this rate he will have a whole bloody harem within a month! I dare say one day even Chief will get infected with this Newy-virus and start giggling whenever he will show up!

Maia Sanders: The Chief is thirty-three and married.

Vice Chief Engineer: Whatever! Newy. Is. A. Menace!!

I'm guessing your Trainee Engineers are rather young, like Pilot Newy? If so, this is likely their first professional role.

Perhaps they all need the standard "don't mix work and play" talk? So long as it doesn't happen on the clock, I don't care what two consenting individuals do together, but I expect people to prioritise work during work hours.

I trust you or the Chief can handle that conversation with your engineers.

Chief Secretary, can you please page Sub-Commander Gaine? I'll need her to have the same talk with Pilot Newy.

Vice Chief Engineer: Hmph, I will talk to the girls no problem, but the Pilot is your responsibility. Hopefully they will knock it off.

Maia Sanders: I will message Subcommander Gaine right away, Commander.

A while later, Newy steps into the Subcommander's Office, walks up to the desk and salutes.

Menetfer Newy: You've called for me, sir!

Subcommander Gaine can now have an adult talk with her subordinate!

Yes, I hope you've been settling in well.

The higher ups in Engineering have made complaints that you are lingering near the Mecha Bay and.. distracting the female engineering staff from their duties. While it may be an over-reaction on their part, I'm to caution you to keep such activities to when they aren't meant to be working. Commander Shiek wants to stress that work needs to take priority during work hours.

Menetfer Newy: I will keep that recommendation in mind, sir. I am not lingering, however. I am performing my duties and taking care of my Mecha to make sure it is combat-ready all the time. That I happen to accidentally bump into cute female engineers on my way to or from the Mecha Bay is out of my hands, however. Newy smiles, and salutes.

Menetfer Newy: Is there anything else?

Noted, though it looks more like you sought out the opportunity to some. I would suggest if nothing else, you tread more lightly around the senior staff. They are.. protective of their subordinates, and I'd like to remain on good terms.

I'd prefer if I wasn't given a reason to speak to you about this again. That will be all.

Maia Sanders: Commander, Subcommanders, the training of our Pilots new and old can now come into question. The recent injuries and dispatches has caused some empty slots in the Exercise Complex and Study Rooms. Do you have any solid plan to fill them?

I suppose it'd be too greedy to ask that all of Team Flame are given training, but I'd like at least one of the Exercise Complex's slots for Pilot Coutebleu, training her lacking Crowd Control skills.

Beyond that, if possible, I'd seek a round of training for Baumgartner's Health, Newy's Tracking, and Istafan's Interpersonal skills. Are plenty of other areas they each need to improve in, so am amical to changes, but that is where I'd start.

Spoiler: Assignment Calendar (click to show/hide)

I've noted down the expected events occuring with our Pilots over the next month. Ms Sanders, in doing so I noticed that Pilots Lovelace and Fountainblanc are currently mid-training. Has their projected completion date been updated to reflect their current assignment with VanZer?

I've also noted down which skill I personally feel each Pilot should study next, alongside Sub-Commander Gaine's requirements. The indented Pilots are currently indisposed for one reason or another.

Sub-Commanders IAI and Scarlett, what are your requests for training?

Quote
Thedros Palaikos - Piloting 1->2
  Arthur Lovelace - Sciences 0->1
  Ichirou Natsugawa - Health 1->2
Carla Whiteforest - Piloting 0->1 / Sciences 0->1

  Sota Tamayashi - Tracking 0->1
  Josephine Fontainblanc - Crowd Control 1->2
Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser - Battling 1->2
Johann Eduard Ostfalk - Tracking 0->1

Marie Coutebleu - Crowd Control 1->2 / Interpersonal Skills 1->2
Erika Hildegard Baumgartner - Health 0->1
Menetfer Newy - Tracking 2->3 / Interpersonal Skills 2->3
Asrael Istafan - Interpersonal Skills 0->1

Edit: calendar updated as per below

No Complaints Commander. [Whiteforest, Carla] should focus on Piloting. Other members are skilled at Sciences. Combat is key to defeating the Mu and making it home however, no matter the mission, so completing basic Physical prerequisites is ideal. Lovelace, Arthur] has a high aptitude in a number of fields, so their training can continue to balance out their role on the team.
