[The Sound of a Great Wind Rushing Through The Void]

Hope dawns once again. The Elder guides the swirling mists of the morning, guiding them into the form and shape of another wraith. I call upon the spirits of the swirling mists, bless this child with life.
The foraging team returns with a bounty of fruits from the Foryst they call home. They bring with them news. Worrisome news. They have taken slightly more than the the Foryst can sustain. It will take time for the Foryst to restore its bounty. The Elder demands caution. We must pursue other sources of food, lest we bring the Foryst to its knees and starve.
Our claws and beaks are sharp. There is prey we could capture in the lands nearby. Let us hone our skills to violence. Let us Hunt. Three of the Wraiths focus their efforts, devoting themselves to practicing their skills of talon and beak, and practice the basics formation flight and hunting tactics. We will have fresh meat soon.

Create "The veiled Abyss" in G10. (-1 FP)

"The veiled Abyss"
this place is Bare sea and open water, with not a speck of land near its fog blanketed surface, yet do not let the colorful fishes found in abundance here deceive you- even less land can be found in the black depths below- where the ocean stretches downward to lightless depths where horrific leviathans wage chaotic battle for supremacy, yet still there is deeper- to depths so crushing not even the monsters above dare descend farther- how far must one go to reach the bottom of this part of the ocean- and what one may find there, not even the gods know.

(yell at me if this is 'too extreme')

The Verdant Commonwealth

Having finished with their research, every member of the Verdant Commonwealth goes about the business of making themselves a pointy stick.

5 Fae craft pointy sticks in the Fylan Foliage [F6], producing 5 pointy sticks.

Turn 7: The quiet before?

Little occurs with the gods, Xilon Klok expending their prayer towards stirring up the emptiness with their divine power, creating the dangerous veiled Abyss. And not caring one whit about proper names. The Fae spend all their time playing, confident in their food stockpiles and making little sticks they bash and grind against things. And the Igwam argue, as is usual.

Not so usual is them working out the Fundemental Process behind research. While just the spark of an idea, if nurtured it could grow into a might tree of research. While one Igwam throws prayer at the new god near the sea, and another attempts to map out the island's growth. It's a lot of scraggly bushes, and mostly results in them just wandering around on their lonesome away from the three who have taken to arguing.

We should instead turn our ears towards [The Sound of a Great Wind Rushing Through The Void], for they sharpen their talons, minds, and numbers, with a new member being born amongst the flock. They seem to be bucking their bad luck, and readying to strike at it. Of Fyla, little is heard.

Hunting 6/6: The tactics involved in hunting are many, but in the end it becomes poking a beast with a stick. Unlocks the Hunting action, requires a weapon to use. (Interaction: If a worker carefully forages, it can reduce the danger of another action in the tile. Not more than 1 additional action however, further tech needed.) Reduced to 0/5 for other tribes.

*This post is made under the assumption that the Empty Isle's foraged number is supposed to be 0, as it was not foraged last turn.*

The Igwam Tribe

The Igwam forage.

The revelation that there are a lot of scraggly bushes tells the Igwam that it would be possible to forage for wood on their island home, so they research the means of collecting it.

While Fundamental Process turned out to be a useless tech, the process of researching it itself appeared to reveal that tech costs are actually not a secret in Publica. The Igwam request a price check on "Wood Crafting" to test this theory.

Igwam Civilian 1 forages at H9 to collect: 3 food.
Igwam Civilian 2 forages at H9 to collect: 1 food.
Igwam Civilian 3 forages at H9 to collect: 3 food.
Igwam Civilian 4 forages at H9 to collect: 2 food.
Igwam Civilian 5 Researches "Wood Gathering" for 1 Progress
Introvert Slot 1: Adding 1 RP to "Wood Gathering" at the cost of 1 food
Introvert Slot 2: Adding 1 RP to "Wood Gathering" at the cost of 1 food
Introvert Slot 3: Adding 1 RP to "Wood Gathering" at the cost of 1 food
TECH: "Foraging Improvements" activates 1 times this turn adding: 2 food.
TECH: "Fire" activates 1 time this turn reducing upkeep by: 1
Actual Food Upkeep: -4 Food

The Verdant Commonwealth

After finishing their pointy sticks three of the Fae equip them as they go about foraging in the Fylan Foliage.  Meanwhile, the remaining two Fae raise their voices towards the heavens praising Fyla and asking her forgiveness for their previous failure to pray.  They hope that She will understand their desire to arm themselves as quickly as possible and won’t smite or abandon them…

3 Fae forage in the Fylan Foliage [F6], bringing back 5 food items.
2 Fae pray to Fyla [F6], providing her with 2 FP.

1 food item is “gifted” to the Fae during this turn.

[The Sound of a Great Wind Rushing Through The Void]

With their home ecosystem reeling from their last harvest, the Wraiths spread their wings to the horizons, searching for their meals. Two of the Wraiths drift over to the Faceted Flatlyands, plucking some of its nodes and bringing them back. The [aacronym=Wraith 6]Youngest of the wraiths scouts out the Feral Fynbos, gathering what they can, and noting the areas most fruitful for hunting. Mastering itself, the Wraith gathers cautiously, avoiding the dangerous predators, and reporting to the Hunting Party where the safest places to hunt are.

The Hunting Party brings back a feast. The wraiths devour their kills, and rest contented within their Foryst, watching as it blossoms back into full health. The Elder eats his fill, observing the bounty brought back. This will fuel our flock for some time to come. The Elder's hope firms, settling into a joy that pervades the feast.

When the feast-time passes, the Elder considers their hunting. There must be a way to hunt more intelligently. Hunting smarter, keeping the hunters safer, and making the hunt more fruitful than ever. Turning his mind to study, he begins to plot patterns of hunting where hunters can support each other, cornering prey and warning against predators.

Turn 8: The First Hunt

All is silent above. But below, progress marches on. Or something. The Igwam Tribe gather much from their home, 9 food. And some of it is used for a debate around the fires, figuring out how to make use of their Wood Gathering. The Verdent Commonwealth pray to Fyla and collect food from their home tile, and manage to catch a flying rat trying to steal their own supplies, adding them to the stockpile with pointy pointy sticks.

The Wraiths themselves go on a massive hunt for food, amassing astounding 14 food in total. They certainly won't be going hungry. Even if the elder seems to be spending their time thinking and watching.

Wood Gathering 4/6: Punch Wood. Get Wood. Wood can be gathered from places with a decent amount of it, and used for a number of things, from housing to furniture to facilities and tools. Even boats if you have enough time. To gather wood, just roll the number listed on the tile, and any other modifiers.

Tools can and will modify how much you can gather, with more specialized tools being better at certain actions. (As Igwam have fire, this is completed. Thanks to Silent for pointing that out.)

Pack Hunting Tactics 2/10: Steps towards a successful hunt. Unlike strategy, these are more for in the moment thinking. Pack tactics is another thing altogether. When Hunting with 3 [Wraiths], gain a 1d2 chance of avoiding injury from failed danger rolls, then roll that danger roll again.(This repeats until no danger remains or it fails) If this does not trigger, increase hunting yield by 3. If a worker is injured, will ensure they survive outside of overwhelming odds against them.

While it is true the Fundamental Process gives the research value of other techs, this is due to them being in a clear tree. Wood Crafting is not, able to be a number of techs from less waste when using wood to crafting basic furniture.

In other news, the tiles next to The Igwam Tribe have been updated with wood values where applicable. Hunted 1 is also now an effect, treat it the same as Foraged 1. It will recover if the tile is not hunted for a turn. These effects are usually independent of other effects like it.

[The Sound of a Great Wind Rushing Through The Void]

Emboldened by their successful hunt, the wraiths celebrate. Survival is no longer as frightful. This celebration is combined with the joyous birth of a new wraith, as their emotions shape the mist before them.

Under the Elder's guidance, research continues to press towards gaining tactical advantage in numbers. They're getting close to a breakthrough, but they can't quite finish it up. Soon, we shall hunt together, many talons flashing as one into the prey

Seeing the Foryst restored to its prime, two of the wraiths gather of its bounties, taking care not to disturb the delicate balance of nature too much. Some disturbance is unavoidable, but they take just enough, toeing the line of a greater disturbance. If even one of them had slipped back into old instincts, ruin would have been brought to the Foryst.

The Least of the Wraiths calls out into the void. It has heard the whisperings of Xilon Klok, the great ticking of fearful time, and implores the wise and powerful Xilon Klok to bring up from the void a land of blessings within their reach, to strengthen their tribe. In expectation of the blessings of Xilon Klok, the wraith promises a feast-day in honor of Xilon Klok, filled with prayer and blessings to Xilon Klok.
