World War III - January 1991 Covert Operations

The first month of January 1991 has seen the Third World War enter a new phase with intelligence operations and naturally the Company has been very busy this month. Nationalist India had become a de facto ally of the Soviet Union potentially in response to America's alliance with Democratic Socialist China in late 1990. While China now leads its own team alliance, the United States still sees them as allies and as such has backed China up in their covert war with India. India retaliated by attempting to sabotage U.S. economy which failed miserably and resulted in the U.S. supporting rebels fighting against the Indian government. Ultimately the Chinese successfully sponsored a successful coup in India resulting in their ideology shifting towards Democratic Socialism as well as bringing them into the China World Team Alliance. A major win right there. Iraq nearly launched scud missile strikes against Israel however the Secretary Baker was able to convince Saddam Hussein to stand down with a simple diplomatic protest. Egypt also initiated an economic sabotage against Israel so the United States retaliated with a surgical strike against Egypt as well as a large troop deployment to Israel to counter future aggression. Unfortunately not all went well this month - the Soviet Union sponsored a successful coup d'état in Poland which allowed the reestablishment of the Polish United Workers' Party and the restoration of the Polish People's Republic a first step towards rebuilding the Warsaw Pact. Between liberating Japan and potentially invading Poland, the United States probably has a shortage in military aid money. Even if all U.S. military aid cash was pulled from the rest of the world, odds are we are going to fall short on the requested aid from Germany, Taiwan, South Korea, and other countries likely to take part in either operation. And with most U.S. military forces deployed on or near the front lines leaving less then a quarter million available, chances are the United States Congress will be reenacting the military draft  And there's also Israel which is surrounded by its enemies with Fundamental Islam growing and Saddam Hussein's government in Iraq destabilizing as a result of radioactive fallout. World War III - Impending Ground Fighting

It is currently mid-March 1991 and we are about to be in for some major ground fighting on multiple fronts. The United States has fully reinforced the East Asian Front in preparation for the liberation of Japan, Iraq is preparing to invade Jordan, Libya is also indicated to be planning an attack of their own on Sudan, and the Soviet Union is running drills near China. Saddam Hussein's Iraq has shifted from Centralism to Imperialism following a failed assassination attempt from within. Fortunately our budget isn't as bad off as previously thought since we appear to be gaining money annually then we are losing monthly though we will no more for certain by the end of the year. Hopefully by then the enormous tax hike necessary to run the war can be eliminated once and for all. The United States Congress authorized the restoration of the military draft allowing the mobilization required to liberate Japan from Soviet occupation.

Update: Iraq Takes Jordan!

Iraq invaded Jordan on March 17th, 1991. The Jordanians immediately and the Iraqi military subsequently occupied the country. Saddam Hussein's elite Republican Guard now has troops on Israel's eastern border fortunately the Americans already have nearly a quarter million troops ready to defend Israel should they attack. The United States might've been forced to ignore Iraqi aggression due to the current war against the Soviet Union but but an invasion of our Israeli allies will be met with the full force of the United States military.

World War III - NATO Alliance On The Offensive

The United States and their East Asian allies have initiated a full-scale counteroffensive targeting the Soviet occupation of Japan. The Russians lost over a quarter a million on the first day of the offensive. With the U.S. having gained air dominance over the battlefield, the inherent technological weakness of the Soviet war machine was now fully exposed. Within less then one week, U.S.-led Allied forces overpowered Soviet forces on the ground as their casualties rapidly neared the one million mark. After negotiating with France to rejoin the NATO Command, the North Atlantic Council held an emergency meeting in Brussels arguing that the Soviet plans to rebuild the Warsaw Pact and their failed coup attempt in Germany last year as well their military strikes on the same country presented a clear and present danger not only to the security of Europe but to the entire world and perhaps the human race itself. The Secretary General of NATO, Manfred Wörner, directed the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General John Galvin, to initiate offensive ground operations in Poland to stop the restoration of the Warsaw Pact at its source. The invasion began on March 21st with the German Bundeswehr spearheading operation which is fitting due to the fact the Soviet Union attacked them three times in one year. Opening a second front on Russia when they're already losing on the first front will no doubt bode very badly for the enemy's. For the moment, military operations in Eastern Europe and East Asia are rapidly moving in a very positive direction as the Soviets are retreating on all fronts and their leaders increasingly desperate. Something tells me Gorbachev is now regretting his decision to jump on board with the Hardliners but now it is too late. Gone is the man of peace he portrayed himself to be and there's no way anyone well trust him nor any other Moscow strongman again.

Doesn't seem like the Soviets will be able to hold onto Poland or Japan for very long at this point, wonder how long the war will last once it gets into the Soviet Union itself.

World War III - Japan Liberated, Poland Occupied

The war against the Soviet Union is definitely going in our favor better then projected. The Second Polish People's Republic surrendered almost immediately and the Federal Republic of Germany as the one providing the most troops has assumed de facto military control over the defeated Communist country with the ironic blessing of NATO. The following day saw numerous major victories in the fighting in Japan with Soviet losses exceeding a million. The Soviet Forces In Japan surrendered their position and began their retreat from the island nation. The Liberation of Japan is complete, the Soviet attempt to rebuild the Warsaw Pact has failed, and the Red Army is now down to 50% strength with all surviving troops overseas in full retreat. Technically our military objectives have now been achieved and we can end the war now with our de facto victory however the Soviet willingness to use nuclear weapons in the Middle East has many calling for use to complete the job by marching on Moscow and seeing to it that Gorbachev and the Politburo are brought to justice. For the moment it is necessary to regroup before taking additional action however the Soviet Union is definitely more vulnerable and this may not remain the case in 1992 so time may be of the essence. World War III - Soviet Union Invaded

Welcome to the U.S.S.R., comrades! NATO and its East Asian allies have begun a full-scale invasion of the Soviet Union in the latest and hopefully last battle of the Third World War. As before, Germany has the honor of spearheading the advance so far. Already the Soviet Union has lost significant ground with NATO forces rapidly advancing into the Baltic States, Byelorussia, the Ukraine, and Murmansk in the West while US, Japanese, South Korean, and Taiwanese forces have landed in the Soviet Far East mainly at Vladivostok and Kamchatka. The Soviets have lost nearly a quarter million troops at the start of the invasion and their will to fight already starting to fracture indicating the war may be ending sooner then the Pentagon and NATO Command projected. When that day comes the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union will fall and be brought to justice for crimes against humanity. Unfortunately NATO lost access to a potential Caucasus incursion following a Fundamental Islamic coup in Turkey resulting in them leaving NATO prior to the invasion. On that note, Sudan was taken over by Muammar Gaddafi's Libya earlier this month which is one less problem to worry about.
