Experiments with multi-species entities?
« on: February 28, 2008, 12:27:00 am »

Anyone tried this? Thinking along the lines of an "evil" civ that's not just goblins but also orcs and humans. Does the world gen, or does something break?

Goblins and orcs are the same thing in this game like in Tolkien.

No... Well I know next to nothing about modding DF but... this would be really cool.

Unfortunately entities are hardcoded to have one creature right now. There are some tricks you can play with the raws to get other intelligent species as pets and then sort of turn them into working creatures, but they won't do most jobs and it simply does not work well at all. You can also have intelligent creatures as pets and simply leave them that way, but there's very little you can do with them aside from butchering them or stuffing them in zoos.

You can make intelligent creatures [TRAINABLE] as well as pets, and have "war (creatures)" that you can assign to a dwarf for protection purposes, but that's about it so far.
