if you add the pet tags to dwarves you might be able to bring some.  You'll probably have to remove them after embark though.

The tags are [COMMON_DOMESTIC][PET]. Add those to the dwarf entry and gen a new world.  However this merely makes them a potential pet, it is still possible for certain civs not to have them. Once you have the world started you get rid of the two tags and they will behave just like normal dwarves, cept traders will bring them occasionally on their wagons.  It certainly makes it interesting.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Yes. Fat, bearded puppy faces.

[Healthcare Update Thread] Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.

I'm assuming adjuststart.exe hasn't been calibrated for the latest version yet?

"Participating in the slave trade" sounds like an excellent excuse to slaughter traders.

You can allow or stop your dwarves from eating these mushrooms, but it's entirely optional and doesn't turn Dwarf Fortress into Dwarf hookah-smoking pad.

Then add the "Trainable" tag... War Dwarves! =)

Edit: Oh, if you forget to take the pet tags off, remember this: Any pet that is [INTELLIGENT] but doesn't have [NO_EAT] and [NO_DRINK] *will* need food and water. Poor pet creature I made died of thirst in a cage.
