I think the fanciful tag prevents the creature in question from appearing in the game BUT one of your dwarves might have a "add name here likes griffons(or any other creature) for their strength(or something else)" line in his/her profile. Kinda like a fairy tale.

Actually the vanilla dragon has the fanciful tag and they still appear. Unless megabeast overrides, I think the only thing that keeps the legendary creatures from showing up is an utter lack of any biome tokens.

Still donno exactly what fanciful does...maybe something to do with legends and engraving?

Fanciful prevents the creature being asked for in mandates.

Actually, that raises a question.  If I make the monster "Mighty Foo"  then in evil terrain, will there be "Skeleton Mighty Foo" and "Zombie Mighty Foo" if the terrain otherwise justifies their biomes?  How does the game handle undead in the ecology?

Theres a token you can add to things which allows them to become undead. I forget what its called, but its on the wiki somewhere.

[NATURAL], I think. And I think evil creatures are immune to zombification. I've never seen a zombie harpy yet.

Hey, Blue Dragons don't appear in the Historical Figures list! Apparantly, it's because they can't live on land, because, if I give them the [BIOME:ANY_LAND], they appear just fine. How bizarre! Even giving them the amphibious token don't change that...

EDIT: Add both the amphibious and [BIOME:ANY_WETLANDS] token, and remove the aquatic one, and they'll appear on the list. Of course, it kinda takes away the fun of a completely marine menace, but it's either that, or having to discover notable blue dragons manually on adventure mode :P

I imagine so yes.  I have plans together for a AD&D Green dragon (inhaled poison), black dragon (strong necrotic contact poison to simulate acid) and White Dragons (very cold powder).

Could probably do the sleeping gas breath as well that some of the metallic dragons had.

Unfortunately blue dragons still get no love, and I have to settle with my current melee range high damage "lightning" burn damage attack, which while not as awesome, probably makes more sense realistically.  As far as I know modern manmade lightning can only arc a few feet.  Without magic I don't think anything resembling a blue dragon would be able to do any better.

man-made lightning can arc a few feet, but i believe the record jump for a static charge was 45 feet from a telsa coil, so that's pretty dragon-breath-like!
