In my opinion, it is not a bump if the poster attempts to actually add to the discussion.

For example, asking if it will be updated soon brings it to the attention of the creator of the topic that intrest is still as strong as it initially was, and that he should at least inform people he hasn't forgotten.

On the other hand, the question has already been asked, much too often, because people are too impatient. That impatience is justified.


The bottom line is that posting "BUMP" without at least a thought of civilized conversation is what WILL get this locked or removed, but anything else is unknown.


ALso, a bump because it is a whole halfway down the list of things that have been posted in this section today is entirely unjustifiable. A bump because it has been a week past the date the author said they would update CAN be justified, more so if it adds more than four useless letters and one optional punctuation mark or series of them.
