The rise and fall of Mörul Anam (Succession Fort)
« on: May 31, 2008, 10:38:00 pm »

I am starting a new comunity game in a pocket sized world where there are no Elf Hippies. Dwarves, humans and Goblins are all there is. Troubble is that there is only one larger Dwarf Fortress in the world. The King has then sent us out to dig out a new home for the dwarves and to hold the goblin threat at bay. The fortress is going to be built not to far from the capital, unfortunatly this is a sinister land where dangers lurk.
Anyone who want to join the armor\weaponsmith "Aardvark" on this dangerous mission?
If so tell me what role you want and name.

1. Aardvark - Year one.
2. Ghostpaw
3. dresdor
4. Strife26
5. Nhiphanter
6. Kilowatt
7. Jualin
8. RandomRandomUK
9. Aardvark (again)

t''s so sad.  It''s as if De Beers as invaded Dwarf Fortress.  I nearly cried when I saw how valued and rare diamonds were in Dwarf Fortress.

I don't know if I can do anything to the personality, but the skills should be no problem.

By the way. He is a useless bastard.   ;)

Just check each and every dwarf's personality and pick the one most appropriate to what I'm looking for.  That's why I put "from first priority to lowest".

yes.  I just get so annoyed when people pick predictable and useful skills during community fortress games.  It's almost as if the are following word for word the recommended skills for your first seven dwarves on the nooby guide on the wiki.  As you can tell I "love to defy convention".  On second thought I'm going to edit the skills I want.  Going to put marksdwarf there because I like crossbows.  Make sure to take some bolts, a crossbow, and (VERY important) a Quiver.

Bolts are different from arrows but can still be fired from crossbows and are cheaper.

Always use bolts and quivers with the crossbow. I remember the first time I had marksdwarves without quivers. Did not fare to well for them.

Umm... is this a succession fortress or a community? Because you advertised it as a community fort, yet you have also given out a year for each player which means it is a succession fort. I am confused.

That really is confusing. Is this a comune or a session?

Name: Copper
Skills: split between farming, mechanics, and cooking.

Make sure that he doesn't like copper.

Sorry, I got it wrong, succession was what I meant. Man this is embarrasing.
If anyone wants out. Tell me.

You should totally combine both, and create a... commucession fort?

O.K. Now that the confusion is out of the way, Can I ask some questions?

1) Are you planning to use any mods or utilities?
2) Are there any abstract rules for us to follow?
3) What size embark area are you planning to use?
4) Is there: Magma, HFS, a Chasm, carp infested river, Aquifer?

If the embark area is small (less than 4x4), count me in for an early spot.

I chose the spot using prospector. The area has a magma vent seen from the ground,  and an underground river. It is in a sinister area where the harpies roam, and the magma vent is full of inhabitants. The meaning ofthe fort is to expand the one Dwarfhold kingdome so that it has a chance against the Goblins. Unfortunatly the starting area is 6*6, but on apositive sidenote there are no Elves in this world. The HFS is there.
Oh totaly forgot. I run Vanilla
