The Chronicals of Uzolodur
« on: June 17, 2008, 01:08:43 pm »

This is a tale of Uzolodur, known as Oilroots in the common tounge.
[The map is the first pregenerated map in the wiki stockpile of maps Zalodorum the dreamworld or something. I made several "n00b" mistakes as i have only played this game fore 2 weeks as of the writing of this.]

The land is a prime place to settle. It has tree's, magma, water, and abundant minerals. It would be a perfecct place for the Ceiling of Tiring to set up camp. Or so they thought.

Year 1
We mined large amounts out of the rocks. We mastered stone and iron. But it was not enough. They came from the depths of the magma pool and took Solon, our leader and legendary miner. She killed all the blasted imps, but alas she was wounded. We took her to her room and let her rest. Being as we forgot to build a well in our lust for mineral wealth, she was finally consumed by thirst. Amrok save us all.

Spring/Summer Year 2
The caravan passed. They could not reach our depot. We are without an anvil as we have brought none expecting the caravan to provide it. We received a flood of immigrants. At first, the extra help was appreciated. Until the booze ran short. We finally got the well built, a week after Solon died. The well has become the central part of our lives without alchol. Work is slowed to a crawl. A hunter was mangled by a giant eagal and a fisher was mauled by an alligator. In both instances the whole fort was called to serve in a posse and beat down the menace.

Fall/Winter
The goblins come. We were not prepared, being preoccupied with getting farms, and more importantly booze production, underway. A small squad lead by an axegoblin came. We mustered the whole fort into a posse. The battle was won, but 10 were slew, including our clerk. We retreated back to the mountain home.

The Resettling
Spring 1053
We came better prepared. We found the contents of our fort scattered and in disarray. No matter, we brought 30 dwarves clad in steel and trained in light combat. We shell not fail. We reclaimed the workshops, and more importantly, brought and anvil for a metalsmith's forge, and when the imps are eradicated, a magma forge. For now we make due with coke, charcoal, and the old ways.
To be continued...
