Mac default keys
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:15:39 am »

I didn't find anyone else who had mentioned this, so…

The default key for bypassing a text screen is F8.
The default key on Mac OS X 10.5 for activating Spaces is F8.
The Spaces key takes precedence.

That's a slight problem for starting a Dwarf Fortress game.

Apple keeps adding system-wide meaning to function keys; Toady already had to move a bunch of them because of Exposé.

You should be able to remap the system-wide F8 in System Preferences. That doesn't mean that Toady won't need to find a new "confirm selection" key, but it should suffice for a workaround for now.

Yeah, I've been disabling the key while playing DF, and I could always rebind the DF key if I get tired of that.
