Toady works nights, sleeps days.

Also, great work on a quick bug fix. All last night I dicked around with World Gen. Now for some long awaited DFing again.

Right, but what I mean is, when I went to bed Toady was still posting replies in the bug report forum (every now and then saying "I'm going to bed now"), and when I woke up, a bugfix was posted.

Have you heard of Toady One?  They say he was born in a mental hospital, and he sleeps only one hour a night!  Toady One is a great man.

I noticed the fix log didn't mention anything about flesh eating elves.

... was that intentional? :I

Edit: Yes, yes it was. Scary elves.

I'm glad that the sleep forever bug didn't effect you too.

Goodness. Dare I say that you, Toady, are the single most devoted and skilled developer ever to grace the land of vijeogames?

Does anyone know if saves from 38c are compatible with this new version? I just started a new world the other day and I would love to be able to still use it.

Wait, is this new version the one where we can mass-designate constructions? I'm holding off any new building projects until that comes along.

Hi!

Okay, I have had a look at the update and I must say I really like it. Sleep phases seem to be a bit shorter than in previous (pre-coma) versions and dwarves begin to diversify their sleep rhythm quite quickly. Personally, I see these things as improvements, although I can see that some of the masochist hardcore players may find it too easy.

Currently, I am just before my first caravan (I know, I am slow) on a 4x4 location. Just out of curiosity, I picked river + road (but no aquifer, heaven forbid). The bridge over the river looks cool, but I am wondering about the road. Road, bridge, and river are placed perfectly, but the road is a simple dirt road and is already seriously fading away - this seems a bit weak for a main road on the big map (^_^;;

The pathfinding bug is still there and sometimes a bit annoying, although yet not crippling.

I also noted that political groups kind of found a balance of power around 500 with region expansion stopping - is there are a particular in-game reason or is it a malign attack by the RNG?

Finally, although I would rather not meet them with my dwarves or my adventurers, I have to admit that I find the high mortality of the megabeasts quite depressing.

However, all in all, a very great update for a very great game. Thanks a lot.

Wow, I cant believe this, Toady posted this just as I went to bed last night (I was trying to stay awake a bit longer so I could test out the new vers fort mode)

I gave up at 11:30, stupid me! A few minutes later this gets posted and only NOW do I see it.

So Toady, by any chance have you used any kind of multi-threading stuff for worldgen in this version? It's odd, 'cause my home PC with his kickass video card and 3500+ of AMD powah used to be faster than the one at work, which is a meager core 2 duo with 1.8 ghz of velocity, but now, the tables have turned and the PC from work makes world at blinding speed and my home PC really slows down during the civilization gen part.
