Well, it kind of went like this.

Day 3 of Eve, join Nilocy's corp, The Reformed.
Day 4 of Eve, The Reformed join a new Alliance, Brick Squad. I make my first venture into 0.0. People try to kill me but are too slow for my Rifter.
Day 5 of Eve, Brick squad gets wardec'd by Assisted Genocide, an alt group of much a much larger alliance, leading to:
Brick Squad gleefully declaring war on one of the larger alliances in the game, AAA citizens just for the hell of it, you know?

If Brick Squad weren't 29th on the kill charts, I would expect to get wiped out. -_________-;;

I thought I'd give this game another go, so I've just started up a trial account. It would be cool to hook up with some b12ers in game (Or am I stuck in newbieland for a long time?).

Yeah, I play it. Atm you guys are free to join The Reformed.

Just Eve-mail me, Nilocy, with your IGN and stuff. And join our public channel 'The Reformed Public'. We can get you settled in.

Although, if you really want, I can give you a 21 day trail instead. An extra week of free gametime. And if you subscribe I get a month extra for free. So its win win. :D

Today we took a station while I was on. I lost my first Rifter, which was very sad, but in a fitting manner: Scrambling the warp drives of carriers and battleships 100 times my size so they couldn't run away in a large battle.

Then I lost a second Rifter given to me for free trying to hold off an advancing carrier fleet. Soon after that the Corp we were fighting defected from the Alliance we were fighting and the system was won.

I bought a 3rd Rifter and tried to fly back to homebase, but I've been ambushed at a gate and barely got out alive. So now I'm waiting for a more opportune time to try as I'm stuck in the middle of extremely hostile territory.

Sniper Cerberus statistics:

Targeting range: 240km.
Effective missile range: 122km (gonna get that up to 180 by next week)
DPS (damage per second): Currently 260. Planning to get that to about 300 by next week as well.

Man i love this thing.

I've made two runs from empire to Stain, which is where the main HQ is.

Here's some basics about 0.0 - and stuff you should practice even in Empire, because I've seen ships destroyed out there "just because". In Eve, anything undocked is fair game. But Empire or any high-sec system is happy carebear-land, compared to 0.0.

Traveling through 0.0 by yourself's dangerous, but doable in a frigate. In fact, you should do it in a fast frigate otherwise added aligntime from destroyers and larger ships will get you killed at the warp gates. Don't do what I did and leave empire too early (I jumped into 0.0 my first week- but I learned a lot real fast).

You have to be smart about it. The problem is most people don't play smart or paranoid. They try and drive their ships blindly into 0.0 and get killed, camped, looted, raped.

Assume people are going to attempt to destroy your ship. Assume everyone in local (even neutrals) will attempt to destroy you (except your alliance/blues). Assume they're going to kill (pod)you so keep a clone. Assume you're going to be gate-camped. Assume there will be warp bubbles and interdiction fields. Don't assume a microwarpdrive, afterburner, or warp core stabilizer will save you but they will help. Know autopilot will get you killed instantly. Know no amount of armor and speed and luck will save you so be prepared to lose whatever you set out with.

The very small ships and gear can be transported by the corp.

Check your map! There are options to check "ships destroyed in the last hour" and "pods destroyed" in the last hour as well as "average users in a system". Once you set destination, use "warp to 0" on gates! Never use autopilot as it brings you out of warp thousands of meters from the gate. That is time that will be used to kill you. When traveling through a system with anyone else in local, warp to a moon/planet/astroid field not directly towards the next gate, and then warp to 0 on that gate. You may run into a bubble and once you're out of warp, scrambled and killed.

If pods killed or ships destroyed along your intended path are high, abort your travels until later! It is indicative of a large battle or obvious gate camp- which means lots of hostiles. I cannot stress this enough, it is better to turn back and try again later than push forward and lose your ship. Use your common sense.

Both times I've been camped but able to outrun them, or had to turn back and wait until right before/after maintenence. That way there's only a few thousand people on and the systems are mostly clear. Even then I could tell people are chasing me.

If you need help, contact Nilocy or jump in the chat "The Reformed Public". We'll help you out.

If you're looking for a MMO where "anything" can happen. Eve's the one. 0.0 will teach you the "meat" of the game - how to survive on your own requires banding with others and fighting, tooth and nail, for everything.

Started up the trial. Currently playing as the Caldari, and just got a bantam frigate. This game is one of the better MMOs out there, and I'm enjoying every minute of playtime. The skills training offline is a great help and just plain awesome, as it means that even if you log on just once a day, you'll still be progressing along with those who play all day long.

heres a tip for all 0.0 travel.pre-align before warping. waiting for an alignment to the next gate can be agonizingly slow.

be sure to set your path so you get a nice heads-up of the next gate on your jump chain. When you pop in the new system, you are cloaked, do not move. Look around and get your bearings. If there is a gate camp, DO NOT PANIC because they cant see you yet. Look around and find youe target gate on your trip, double-click right next to the gate and your ship will apply thrusters and align to the new destination, once aligned THEN and only then do you click the warp. With a really fast ship that has good align times, you will be able to avoid most gate camps. also, shuttles align SUPER fast so in a shuttle you can pretty much whizz through hostile territory.
