You know, at this rate of version/ bug fix releases people are going to overload their bandwidth. I haven't even had a chance to use 39D yet!

Loving the rate here Toady, keep it up!

Replacing the exe and data/index might do it.

So, Toady, does this mean that you're going to do all the yellow things before you get to the white things? Or are the yellow things what you're going to do first once you get to that section?

Yeah, more like the second.  The off-white things aren't to be done without the yellow things in their section, but which yellow thing I do is completely up in the air, which is the new feature of this dev_next, which should contribute to quality of life and overall productivity.  The numbering system isn't really formalized and is a bit confusing, but anything like II.A.1-4 vs. II.B.1-4 are two different tracks which can be done concurrently, so once a yellow thing becomes green, two or more things might become yellow below it, one for each track.  There's also bugs/interface/toolsy stuff to do, and at least one HFS thingy I didn't put up there.

  • II.A: Optional presence of some randomized megabeasts and powers, possible associations to world gen myth, entities
  • II.B: Optional presence of some randomized vermin
  • II.C: Optional presence of some randomized plants
  • III: Optional presence of randomized wilderness/feature creatures
  • IV: Optional presence of randomized entity creatures

So what do these mean? Like randomly generated creatures that are pretty much exclusive to that world?

Perhaps we're moving towards something like Starflight's generated diversity of wildlife, which was truly awe-inspiring for existing entirely on two 5.25" floppies that contained some 800 planets.  Soon we'll have dwarven spaceships exploring other players' worlds.  :-D

Might those optional things mean a sort of blendered version of Megabeast, using the different tags and such that make them up to create something unique, which would be just fantastic.  A fire breathing octodwarf would make a nice wall carving.  =->
