@the people talking about games having poor communities on the official forum.

This is the ONLY game I have ever played where the official forums were the place to be and were actually populated by a worthwhile group of people. You should not Judge a game's community or it's player base by the poorly moderated public (publicish in some cases) boards on the official website.

I wouldn't exactly call these boards 'Well moderated'.  Most of the people here just don't act up enough to require moderation.

I think we moderate ourselves more than anything. We ostracize (visibly or not) the people who don't meet even the most basic maturity standards.

I've seen quite a few. This is by far the best though. I can only hope that, by acknowledging our own existence, we have not caused a downward spiral that will doom the fortress! forums!

My theory is that most just go to another forum and bicker, if they want to.
I once was a member of the Halo 3 forums, probably the opposite of these forums, but nevertheless it were fun times.  ;D

When you've been in forums for long enough, places like this are an amazingly refreshing and pleasurable experience.

Like getting gently bathed by six or seven hot babes (or hunks, if you prefer) having just come out of a bath of radioactive acid.

A sufficiently dilute acid with a very low level of radioactivity would be quite harmless.
