The Age of the Last Time
« on: August 11, 2008, 03:38:48 pm »

While trying some modding, I needed to create a new world - but I couldn't be bothered to wait, so I just made a pocket world. It came up with some message about there not being enough of the right type of places for civs to exist, but I just ignored it. Maybe I shouldn't have ignored it:

There are no civs, there's just a titan. I bet he's lonely. The only things I can choose are Legends mode and Human: Play Now!

I wonder what would happen if I killed the titan...

EDIT: "The Giant Desert Scorpion drops your head." - Gah, I wish I didn't have to choose play now...

Things like this is what Toady means for "Hidden Fun Stuff" - it was never meant for end game features.

Did you expect him to offer you a cookie first?  :P hmmm cookies

and some punch...titans always are a bit literal minded...while dwarves are more lateral. ;)

What does it give for the reason for the age name?

Probably the name of the titan. Normally, when civilizations are dead and megabeasts are alive it's either Draconic Age/Age of Hydra/*critterspieces* Age or Age of The Last Prophet/Age of Sludgemurders/Age of *crittername*. If no civs are left and no megabeasts are alive, the Age of Death begins. Later, when you embark and grow, game passes into Age of Dwarves.

Hi!

Bask: I think Cthulhu meant the flavor text at the top of the screen when you look into the age's legends. Like "the time when the last powers fought" (Age of Heroes) or some such.

But I am curious about what you described. How do you get into the Age of Death? I mean, if you don't have civs, the megabeasts don't get slain, but if your civs survive even a little bit, you are stuck with them...

The Titan was called "The Last Time" and the reason was just the standard "when the titan was the only great power of the world" or whatever it says (I've deleted the save after constantly dying in 1 hit to the titan, so I can't remember exactly what it said)

I guess you can only get into the age of death if you play as an adventurer and kill all historical figures.

What would be cool is if you could create a town with play now characters. Then let history continue to generate for a few hundred years and come back.

I have reached the age of death. (or age of emptiness as it's called)

How did I do it?

I just made a world made of 100% ocean.

The world is filled with undead fish .

Okay I just genned a new pocket world. There was one megabeast (A dragon) and just one civ. I killed the dragon, killed all the elves, then gave into starvation. But I'm not really sure what age it's in now because...well, there's nothing I can do.
