I just had to sign in again, this is too cool. Its a shame that playing Dwarf Fort over two screens completely bombs the FPS to the deepest chasms. Just for clarification, thats 200 tiles wide at 16x each, for 3200 pixels.

Some fish. Not the small ones. Small creatures don't support tiles at the moment.

And since dogs have been part of my tileset since the very first release I did, it seems unlikely that that's your problem.

Heh, check it:

[GRID:150:75]
[WINDOWEDX:1200]
[WINDOWEDY:900]
[FONT:curses_800x600.bmp]

It's a little too big for my taste.  Also, it sets my regular paused FPS of 100 to 30 and my normal running FPS of 50-60 to 30.

Anyone have any suggestions for screen/grid size on a 1680x1050 desktop resolution?  It took me a while just to figure out how to get the GRID X/Y and the WINDOWED X/Y to be a nice 8x12 ratio thing.  Does it matter if I don't worry about ratio, as long as I have black space on?  I do want something that fits the ratio though, black space makes my screen sad to be misused.

Edit:  Although the menu screen does look /adorable/ at that size.  It's so tiny!  Teehee.

Edit 2:  Huh.  Is it weird that my paused FPS appears to cap out at the max of my GFPS?  Not that it really matters while paused, it's not like having less than 100 is going to affect anything, but weird...

This is awesome. However, full screen with 120x75 tiles slows my game to a measly 18fps. Something seems wrong, here. I usually get at least 60, if not 80.

Is the game actually running that slow, or is the FPS display just lower?  Seems there's a bug where the graphical FPS is being displayed, not the actual game-logic FPS.  Is your G_FPS_CAP set to 20 by chance?

My 5x5 tileset posted on page 6 of this thread. 200x80 means there are 16,000 characters on the screen at once in this. It does cut my FPS in half though. Pretty cool that I can see the whole valley, but not worth the FPS cut.

My GFPS was set to 50, so that's odd. Unless something is preventing it from running at full speed. I am running in wine... I might try it in XP if I bother to reboot at some point.

It is beautiful seeing most of the area at one time, just kinda an FPS hit right now.

Yup, looks great! Sad the FPS impact is so large, though. My main computer stopped working, and now my laptop is struggling to get 20 FPS at seven dwarves (it reached 80-90 before). I hope it'll be optimized.  ;)

What is the correct tile count for 1680x1050?

I'm using 1680/8 = 210 and 1050/12 = 87.5 = 87, but it's coming out all sketchy and crappy.
