I'm assuming the UI rewrite will allow us to use whatever size tiles/chars with a resizable window without mucking about with configuration files or having to multiply out pixels in our heads.

Don't get me wrong though, this is still a fantastic feature.  The fact that most square tilesets made the window look 'thin' is now a non-issue since you can now expand the window down as far as you like.  Thanks Toady!

Even 5x5 tilesets work, and 7x9 ones too. Tilesets can be of any size.

The actual term is..  Factorial, I think?
(Awesome to the power of awesome) multiplied by (awesome - 1) multiplied by (awesome - 2) rinse, repeat until awesome = 1

God, I hate knowing math.

NOOOOO repeat until (awesome - n) = 1. Awesome is never = 1.

Actually no, that's wrong too. (Awesome ^ Awesome)! would be (Awesome ^ Awesome) factorial, meaning (Awesome^Awesome) * (Awesome^Awesome - 1) * ... * (3) * (2) * (1) where the factors form an arithmetic sequence.

Actually, I think Toady said "whatever numbers you want", so I think it could work the other way.

Quote from: the devlog
It lets you resize from 80x25 up to 200x200 choosing whatever numbers you like.

Oh My Armok God of Blood! This is awesome. i was waiting for this thing since i first happened to meet DF. so much space, i am free, the sky is the limit! also an aquifier is the limit i guess... and popcap. and carp. and elephants... and maybe that little bit of insanity that makes us destroy our own fortresses in hillarious ways... thought these limits are there to be broken, to test our courage and might and sensibility... and nonsensibility.
going back to the point ) this liberation of our view is superb and highly appreciated. i will now eat a cookie in an honour of the next version.
also... 32x32? bah! even 16x16 will now be driven off my hard drive with a pack of sekletal carp. 40000 max you say?... given 4:3 ratio this means 228x171 i guess... and that would be 4x4 tiles for my res i guess... now that's harsh, though i'll easily go 8x8 =)
i also have a decent idea where to use 2x2 ^_^ someone wanted to make a DF computer with display ) now you could have a decent size resolution display with somewhat generic looking pixels. anyone up to make a celebrating prasing animation? =) you won't even need a computer there... just some nice mechanics...

edit: scratch that 228x171. and i though where did 40000 came from... =)

I'm guessing that LordNightmare's and Zarasutra's 4x6 character sets will rise in popularity soon.

Zarasutra:

Just so you guys know, beds and farmers will look exactly the same in LordNightmare's. And Turtles and Marksdwarves, too.

You linked the same thing twice. ;)

I was wondering why they looked so similar.

I'd reccomend Zarasutra's, because LordNightmare didn't do anything but shrink his, which means that some of the stuff looks the same.
