Author Topic: [40a] Repeated crashes exporting world history after world gen.  (Read 734 times)

Not every time, but the vast majority of times the whole game comes crashing down when I try to export the world information at the end of worldgen. I've already lost two really nice worlds to it. It started with the first world I tried to generate with 40a, and it's affected all but one.

The game is angered by my complaint, and is now crashing the same way in the middle of worldgen. I'm starting to think the issue is on my end.

I tried another version and it'll generate worlds fine (I actually had to use it to generate a world for me to play in) so I'm almost positive it's a unique bug to this new version.

If you don't think it's at your end, I'm going to need some specific parameters so I can try it out.  The smaller the world the better.

Yeah I've been trying to generate small worlds. I'll see if it's still crashes on pocket worlds and I'll post the parameters.

Hmmm, it's not crashing on pocket worlds, I'm going to go back to trying to generate a world to play in and see if the problem is still there. I can't imagine what changed between today and yesterday.

Okay the problem I was encountering has disappeared on it's own. I can't explain it but am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. If I encounter it again I'll post the worldgen info.

Guh, as soon as I decide to actually try to generate a world to play in the problem returns. I can't give you the worldgen info because it's attempts to export it that cause the program to crash, however I took screenshots of the two error messages I got if that would help (I doubt it).

The problem remains, and now it's crashing sometimes in the middle of worldgen. No matter when the crash is, it always reports a runtime error.

Is anyone else having a similar problem? I'm generating Small worlds, and I'm picky so usually a lot (10-20) aborting each one until I find one I like, where I'll export world history to make sure the goblins haven't been wiped out. It crashes more often than not.

I'm not sure if these are the parameters that are crashing, but this is what was in my worldgen text file:

Are you using any mods at all?  I tried gen -> export -> abort -> gen -> export -> abort etc. 10 times and it went through fine.

Just a graphics set and I increased the size of the megabeasts to give them a fighting chance of surviving.
