Largest area fortress.
« on: August 29, 2008, 08:16:01 am »

I tried to start one of these expecting a FPS drop of doom, instead i found it playable at start up... scary. Even more scary i realised that the 4 square area on the minimap around where my dwarves where standing had roughly the size of my ordinary fortress.

Damn i wish i could do a big ass project utalizing all this space.

And while we are on the subject, does any one have any suggestion where you can find.
1: shores on each side of the fortress map (largest) and water inbetween (giant bridge project)
2: a land with a road on and water absurd mountins on each side (the giant wall project)

Bump. I wouldnt mind seeing the golden gate. Have you considered finding a flatland and building a massive pyramid? That would be my suggestion. Maybe give it a golden top like in 10,000 B.C. Or maybe an aztec-style temple and pump water... or blood(i wish).. to the top and let it flow down the sides or something.

this may be a bit hard to do, but- get bauxite from trade, make mechanisms from it, get nickle/iron screws and pipes, bauxite blocks... iron floodgates... and build the magma super-cistern. set up a 'waiting area' so that the goblin siege can loiter outside a safe iron door unharmed... and have magma pour in behind them! when your done, let the next floodgate release the magma into a chasm.

once the wars start, +10,000 points for doing the same to an elven siege.

does such a huge flatland even exist? Is it a myth?

Maybe it could be done in a freezing enviorment if it got a underground river, but then there wouldn't be much of water pouring going on.

actualy i tried to make the giant bridge ones. The problem was that the beaches wheren't aligned...
But that one ran at 100 fps without a problem on start up. Turning some of the stuff off it would probably work.

Those things aren't as good as you think.

That's like letting a render farm run DF.

A big freaking huge CPU will be required since DF does not support ANY multithreading. Something like 20GHz.

GPU? Pah. Pretty much anything will do.

RAM? 128MB should be enough. Though it should be fast.
