Hostages gots learn' to do

I was teaching with my founder for about 3 game days before I noticed I had a police officer held hostage on base. He was teaching fighting skills to the rest of his squad during the downtime (sword, since that was the only one he had). Lo and behold, the hostage, who wasn't even being guarded at the time picked up some sword XP along with everyone else! Bug?   :confused:
