('Rescued' prisoner)

You had to eliminate the whole dark fortress for the kid to stick around, right? I'm asking because I've gone on a couple of killing sprees in goblin fortresses without being able to rescue anyone; I think this might be because I wasn't thorough enough.

Or ask a captured kid to join you.
Works pretty well.

One of my marksdorfs noticed a Kobold running about, and shot him.

Out of curiousity, I looked at his Inventory screen, and saw the bolt was listed.

I lol'd heartily.

Man, that Kobold group got RAPED. Two marksdorfs and one of my 30-or-so Wardogs. Ouch!

I thought they replied something along the lines of "ask me when I've returned home", but I could be wrong since it's been a while for me.

Noticed this the other day in fort mode when firing catapults downhill towards a wooded area.  Catapulted stones will land ON TOP of trees and stay there.  Not sure about ballista bolts, but that'd be an interesting experiment.

This can happen with any item, even dwarfs I think.

Yes, Also I think it counts as flying. Another thing that counts as flying is if you stand on top of a door in adventure mode.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Same thing happened to me, but it was a mayor and an Iron chain.

Cougars lose because they are size 7 in a world where most of the carnivores are either 2 sizes larger or come in packs or both.

However in the tropics there are weaker animals.  Jaguars and Leopards are exactly like cougars combatwise with the same size, numbers, and attack power.  And cheetahs are actually significantly weaker than a cougar being 2 sizes smaller.

P.S. And then consiter that an average adventurer is size 7 with even a shortsword (1:10 damage converted to natural attack numbers), + full armor...

Pet cats wear ropes.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

If an animal is ever assigned to a built restraint and then the restraint is removed (unbuilt) without the animal first being unassigned (a dwarf walks over and sets them free), the animal will walk around trailing the chain/rope. So maybe this happened to the cat in question before it adopted an owner?

That is probably what happened. I had all my cats chained up before I remembered that I hate vermin running around my foodstuffs more than my dorfs do. I butchered all the females, of course.

Haven't been playing adventure mode much but I have found one quite fun thing. I hit a ceetah, and it flew about 10 tiles and now it is at top of a tree, over "open space".
Probably a common thing happening all the time, but its still fun when you notice that this is possible too.
