A couple o tings
« on: May 09, 2004, 10:49:00 pm »

First, in the spirit of Nethack, a YALP (yet another liberalised post)

Death to Conservatives!
The Liberal Crime Squad liberalized the country in November 2022.
Recruits: 39        Kills: 14           $ Taxed: 287331     Flags Bought: 0
Martyrs: 2          Kidnappings: 6      $ Spent: 120290     Flags Burned: 0

WOOT! First time I'd managed to win!!

And also, has anyone else come across ThE VIPER? It's like a car alarm but it talks, Toady, is there any actual difference between this and an alarm?

Actually, I ran into the VIPER today, and was about to ask about it too.  I didn't really took the time to read what was written, as I was expecting more the run-of-the-mill car theft when this appeared.  What is it exactly?

The Viper was a state-of-the-art anti-cartheft device from the 1980s that talked instead of beeping.  It said "This car protected by The Viper, stand away!"

And the commercial had a giant 1980s computer animated snake like something out of that movie Dreamscape...

Now the game just needs to be as hard to win as Nethack, and it'll be done.

Does THE VIPER add to your chances of getting caught? or is it just a groovy gimmick? Look foward to seeing if the new version bugs out less. I hope dead people dont live quite as much in this one. I got that if someone dies in a chase bug too.

I'd also like to know:
What is the difference between the cars? Is there some importance attached to them? I mean, is a taxi better than a bug? I'd just like to know. AND, is the year important, ie: is a 2005 Cruiser better than my older 1967 Cruiser?

Yeah, the Viper is better than a regular car alarm.

The dead bugs will still probably be there.  I haven't been able to address them yet.

I didn't have time to make distinctions between cars, although I think you get juice for stealing police cruisers and SUVs.
