I mostly just read the dev pages.

Actually, this makes me wonder about another playertype which may develop due to the latest releases:

The World Gen Junky

I have to admit that world generation in itself can be highly addictive with the current version as you can watch as history develops, see wars destroying large realms and get all excited about. And then there are also the really cool landscapes, like large islands in mountain lakes and things like that.

For quite a while, I was just doing world gen and whenever I get interesting information about it, I really feel tempted to just turn on the computer and ... you know ...

In a way, this is an even more extreme development from SimCity, I guess, as SimCity already has in  a way a high level of passiveness on the player's side.

Anyhow, since this is a "play-style" I also enjoy sometimes, I thought it may be worthwhile considering/discussing this.

Yeah, I really see, long term there being four major play modes.

Adventure, Fort, Legends and Kindgom... 

Over in the other board, there's already somebody making and abandoning forts just to build a magma canal, and he's doing it over several blocks.  It appears to be working.  Imagine building a magma moat, not around your fort, but around your civilization?
