It's unlikely that Toady will pick it up again anytime soon, but it's possible that someone else might take a crack at it.  There are a few somewhat-experienced coders with entirely too much spare time around here, I'm sure one of them could be pestered into working on it.

Hell, I managed to get someone to implement a rudimentary kobold AI into Kobold Quest.

Yeah, I love this game... It would be awsome, beyond awsome, if someone could make a 'sandbox' mode where you can bomb and airstrike and charge whenever and whever you want. Also, if you could be evil and shoot the wounded soldiers instead of dragging them around everywhere. heh heh heh.

It's important to wear lots of face paint while you program. And you can type with your long Gene Simmons tongue.

At that point wouldn't it be safe to assume it should be renamed to WW1 soldier rather then WW1 Medic unless it is an Ironic name like Dr. Pain

Replace that with mustard gas.

Why not both?

Let's split the difference and go with vaporized magma.

Not to mention the high temperature required. Wouldn't it just be more efficient to set the atmosphere on fire?

Sure, but it wouldn't be as thematic.

Seems to me having everything on fire would be just as good... I mean, seriously, imagine a solid wall of fire stretching up to the sky and advancing towards you at mach 2.
