Counting the days to a new Epic Mech game..
« on: October 03, 2008, 08:21:21 am »

By epic mech, I mean a game in which it includes both Normal Military and then Big-Assfuck-Gigantos. With hydraulic pistons big enough to swallow an apartment complex. Much like Titans of W40k, but not of the scouting variety.

Actual point of this is, are there any games even close to this type of idea out there/being made?

Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

Most are Mechwarrior scale.

Speaking of which, are you after the American or Asian style battlemechs?

It doesn't matter to me, really. I like the more realistic look of Mechs in things like Warhammer, but I like a mix between fantasy and reality in them, like Titans in WH40k.

Have you looked into Universe At War?   Somewhat close to your specification.

Supreme Commander is not quite as good as it should have been.  I'd recommend TA Spring instead.  It's even free.

Stormrise looks like it could be interesting.  Says on its page at Sega that it's coming out for 360, PS3, and PC (says 'TBC' for all three on the right).

But then again sega has a habit of ignoring us. Condemned 1 took more then a year to be released and Condemned 2 is still nowhere in sight, with just a single announcement 9 months ago and nothing after that. Which sucks because of the huge cliffhanger ending of the first.

Condemned 2 was released a while ago.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Condemned 2 was released on March 11, 2008 in North America, on the Xbox 360 on March 28, 2008 in Australia and later on April 3, 2008 on PlayStation 3, and April 4, 2008 in Europe for both platforms.

I gotta warn you, the game is kinda sucky, they ruined the whole feel that made the first one feel so good.

I was talking about the pc version, which has been in limbo ever since it was announced.

Nop. I've recently checked out a huge list of the upcoming games in the next year, and haven't seen anything like this.

Id love a game were people fight eachother... Dodge (such as in Total Annahilation which is awesome!... ok I can't spell it) and actually destroy parts of the units without killing it.

It would be great in an Epic Mech game!

Some oldies, but not quite the titanic scale you want:

Metal Marines ... very outdated though
mech commander  ...remains a classic
mech commander 2 ...less so. it's only 'improvement' is '3d'.
iron assault ...bleh, requires nostalgia
heavy gear ...uhh. I'm not very skilled at mechwarrior-type games
Parkan ... dito.
all the mechwarrior-games ...dito

Epic 40K good game for its time, Dune2 style strategy but no RTS on-the-spot building of troops. (thank god!) Has warhound and reaver titans iirc.

Metal Fatigue ...me like. Quick paced but not too fast, intuitive interface, can pick up components of the slain and use them.
Mecha are metalmarine scale.

Epic 40K...

Err isn't that just tabletop?

EDIT: Oh, you're referring to Final Liberation, that was a great game, I think I still have the CD around here somewhere, maybe I should try to see if I can get it to work.

EDIT2: Ugh all scratched up, this can be such a pain.
