Probably one of the more interesting artifacts I've come across.  It's the perfect crown for an evil overlord.

Mwhahaha. If only that was called shakencrumble AT the plan of butterflies :D All of his plans suck though.

Well, there was also that door-jamming monarch butterfly from Boatmurdered...

It's a conspiracy.

Evidently, Dorf Philosopher Uristmedes only figured out the Uristmedes screw. And he ran around naked and covered in water, blood, and vomit all the time, so any discoveries made in his 4/7 bathtub went unnoticed by dorf science.

I just got this one: deviantentranced the jailer of death a honey yellow beryl chain

No engravings or anything, just a really appropriate name.

Not valuable, but amusing: one of my peasants was possessed and made a bed out of bituminous coal, encrusted with bituminous coal, with hanging rings of bituminous coal. (Guess what was in the stone stockpile right next to the mason's workshop..)

Saberlashed, a Native Platinum Bed.  194400 Dorf bucks.  Just in time for my king too.  Someone else gets to sleep in his masterwork bed.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

I think my best one was a nightmarish BED. Made of bauxite, with lots of spikes and jewels and images of stuff being eaten, smote, etc.etc. How anyone could sleep on it was completely beyond me. I gave it to a useless noble... maybe I still have the save file somewhere... I'll have to try and find it...

"Freezestupid", Gabbro ring. With some spikes of Turquoise, it had around 4,8k dwarfbucks. But the creator was a miner. I designated channeling on the glacier and I remembered that they tend to channel around them only after that dwarf bled to death (yeah, 'freezing')

That's why I love this game ;D

My best artifact at this moment is "Rainyboiled", Iron plate armor. Valued at 202800 dwarfbucks, it is decorated with giant mole leather, encircled with bands of iron, rope reed, giant cave spider silk and brook lamprey bone, menaces with spikes of iron, yellow glossular and bituminous coal, and on it is an image of mountains in Tin and of my second highest valuing artifact in turtle shell.

The second best artifact is a Cedar cup, "Sablespoils the Purged Hero".

For some reason, whenever I start a new fortress, the first artifact tends to be a mechanism.

Kemsormatul "Entrancedanced" (yes, that's how it's spelled) The Platinum... Anvil.

Made out of platinum, studded with platinum, encrusted with obsidian, menacing with turtle shell spikes, adorned with gold rings, and decorated with two images. The first, in giant spider silk cloth; the creation of the Cleft of Ticking by Rigoth the Clutchwhipped (microcline mechanism).  The second, in tower cap, an image of the anvil itself, which is nicely recursive.

Weight: 8,500 SB (Swigs of Beer. What else would dwarfs use as a base unit of weight?). For comparison, a normal anvil weighs in at ~3,100 SB.

Total value: 594,000 Dwarf bucks.

At least it's fireproof.

My best artifact? Broiledprinces, an obsidian floodgate. Value 777600.

Yes, it was a glitched artifact. Its creation recently led to the solving of the Planepacked mystery! w00t w00t

It had 250 items in its construction. No joke.
