inside or outside?
« on: November 02, 2008, 12:19:44 am »

does a sections of walls with a floors ontop (or a roof) count as "indoors" to the dwarves?

of course the game tells you it's indoors, but does it 'mean' indoors? what i mean is, if i were to give the order for all dwarves to not go outside, would they retreat to such a place?

Yes it would count as indoors, no they wouldn't retreat to such a place as it isn't underground.

Try it out.

This fish speaks the truth.

Yes, as well as from blizzards and sunlight.

(edit 2)
Not that sure about sunlight, but I never saw those funny puddles of green in artificial structures like towers.

does a blizzard cause those outside to bleed to death by yellow wounds everywhere?

I just had my entire pack of dogs instantly die this way at my wagon on a glacier.

A ceiling will protect dwarves from rain and snow, but defiantly not sunlight (you can have "greenhouses" with stone roofs).  I consider that an advantage, myself.

In any case, it might help a little with temperature, but probably not much.  After all, water will freeze above ground even if it is "inside"
