Soap Bars => Soap Blocks?
« on: November 07, 2008, 12:47:23 pm »

I'm making a Soap Fortress. Is there any way I could make a smelter reaction to turn Soap bars (the normal form) into Soap Blocks?

Also, I'm thinking of making soap "stone" that can be used in crafts and doors. Is there a non-labor-intensive way to make the soap "stones" be made of whatever animal the soap originally was, i.e., allowing one to make a +Kitten Tallow Soap Door+?

Two questions:
1. Why do you need them to be blocks?
2. Is this an attempt to piss off those snobby elves, by using the one material in the game made from both dead animals AND trees?

Some workshops need blocks, such as the ashery, and I want to make all the parts of the process out of soap (which, oddly enough, is fireproof).

And yes, yes it is.

Elves don't hate soap because it's made out of animals and trees. They just hate being clean.

This should work, but I don't think you can preserve the record of the animal the soap came from, so it might lose value.

You could also make real Soap Bars, a metal made of soap.  Then you could build bins and barrels out of it.  My only qualm would be dwarves standing on them preaching all the time.

^I see what you did there^

Oh, and Footkerchief; that produces "blocks" that appear to be made of some kind of soap, but they aren't happy. I believe I will create a Soap stone that has all the same properties as soap (weight, ect...) and go with that. This will create more regular blocks.

Just out of curiosity, what does "not happy" mean?
