Actually, there's a 'conversion' of Creatures 1 that adds the entire C1 world into  Creatures 3 or Docking Station, including the Norns. Check the wiki, it's very nice. Amazing how they simulated the wrapping of the world.

Also it's easy to play any game from the past on modern OSs, there're a lot of emulators, I have even a dendy emulator to play the games of my childhood if I wanted.
I can't say the opposite - it would be a real pain in the @rse to play the modern games on those old systems XD.

I'm pretty sure I got 3 running on my XP with no trouble once upon a time, so I'd guess that'd be the easiest to work with.

Yeah, I'd forgotten to take into account the timeline. Still hard to believe that game is almost 10 years old though. Makes me feel like an old bastard, especially when I remember playing it like it was yesterday.

 :(
