Fortress mode without nobles?
« on: November 30, 2008, 01:44:33 pm »

Is there a way to make big fortresses with say 200 pop but without any nobles spawning etc?

Thanks for any helpful replies.

Change [LEADER_TYPE:KING] to something else, like PHILOSOPHER.

You'll still get the philosopher, but he isn't a dick like every noble except him.

I'd prefer dungeon master instead of philosopher. He can tame.

Stop it already. Public swearing does bad things to communities. Also you've got the answer in the 2nd post, there's no need to continue :(.
So if I edit the site/civ leader to be a philosopher, I will not get any other nobles?

I am preety sure that means that the noble flood will stop at that noble. If you want NO nobles, thats sorta impossible with 200 dwarves. On the other hand, you can set your king/leader as the first noble you get (Whatever it is.... I think it is count?)
Its healthy to have at least 1 noble... I mean, You have to have some unreasonable demands. right? right?
Even if it does mean glassmakers are screwed.

Thank you, Toady.

As it was said... You'll still get your mayor (the leader from the start). Also you'll be free from nobles which should go after said philosopher. But still, there'll be some here and there. But it's pretty real to have a fortress without nobles. Just install a lever (and build a nice dining room for their families).

Also, you can get by without nobles if you are in a world where there are no other dwarves.

Only vaguely. Made of the same substance and put to the same use, but a bit like comparing a castle and a doublewide trailer.

Sorry to necro this, but the suggestions in this thread work to prevent nobles from spawning  (save for the leader type one) right?
