Goblin Campfire story -> Stozu's journey to the Elflands
« on: December 08, 2008, 01:03:38 am »

Description: Basically my first attempt at a reasonably large short story. It will be from the perspective of a goblin bard retelling a story that happened long ago.

Chapter one: The Wait
Stozu Snuzslobu lay in the deep feathertree foliage on the outskirts of the Elven forest retreat, Fieldroots. His mission was simple, capture the baby by any means necessary. The task however was not simple. Before him were rows and rows of elves, more than he had ever seen before. Each one of these grass smoking, tree humping, flower growing maniacs were equipped with some form of wooden weapon. Whether it be wooden arrow, spear or sword, each could slice through skin like a knife through hot butter. These elves knew how to work their wood. Especially that incredibly light feathertree stuff. Stozu would have to make it past this army, sneak into the druid’s tree house, steal the baby and then get out without alerting one soul to his presence.
Stozu Snuzslobu knew at least that he wouldn’t be alone in this snatching mission, Nquzu Xombuzka, his most trusted ally would be by his side with the iron spear of his ready pierce through the brittle wooden armor the elves used. Nquzu was a fierce and merciless fighter. There are stories about his childhood that I fear to believe. Some say he was the bastard child of a demon, others say that he was raised by wolves. All we know for sure is that he lived with no parents and that he was found in a pool of blood in a small cave out east of here at the age of 12. He was also greedy and foolish goblin which would eventually lead to his death. Stozu on the other hand was a true goblin hero. He embodied everything great about the goblin race in his strong head, muscular arms and take no bullshit attitude. He was born and raised a fighter, training his stealth every night and practicing his throwing skills every day. All of this training had come down to this final decisive moment. If this nigh-impossible task of stealing the abominable spawn from the most heavily guarded forest retreat in the entire known world didn’t test his skills then nothing would.
