I like how your all discussing something I already made a mention to.

Sturgeon's law Lego, you forgot to factor in that.

Look it up, it's the idea that 90% of everything is crap, and the remaining 10% is any good.

I'm . . . I'm at a loss for what to say.  But I'll give it a shot.

Naruto:  Magic Ninja village with demons trapped inside people.
Dragon Ball(Z)(GT):  People shooting lasers from their hands flying around trying to get seven little balls that grant wishes.
Zatch Bell:  Short people with spellbooks.  'Nuff said.
One Piece:  Pirates sailing in an imaginary ocean, some of whom have magically abilities that make them unable to swim.

Oh, yeah.  I didn't know what Sturgeon's Law was before ChaoticJosh.  Sorry.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

knew you guys would take that too literally.

cartoons have guys hang in the air for 10 seconds just for comic relief

anime at least has story behind it (usually involving energy being controlled or laws set in place for any type of power)

Three (seven? two?) words for you:
Bobobo Bobo Bobo.

Definitely anime, seeing as how it was a satire of anime.  It definitely had some of the "cartoon" qualifications people keep talking about, too.

ANIME IS A TYPE OF CARTOON PEOPLE!  IT'S LIKE COKE N' PEPSI!  ;D

I'd love to hear your scientific justification for why panty-shots cause massive nasal hemorrhaging, then. ;)

Serious, I always wondered about that. I've never seen it in real life. Ever.

I've given up on watching Gunbuster 2, It's only 6 episodes long, and I'm half-way through, but it feels like the show is causing me literal bodily harm from watching it.

The real fun ones are the ones that leave you mentally, and physically harmed.

Despite that, I think it has one of the most faithful dubs out there.

Yeah.  That's because most new stuff is anime style out of its (anime's) popularity.  There was a French cartoon done in anime style.  Code Lyoko, I think.  It was horrible.

I caught a glimpse of Code Lyoko... it's partly drawn and part 3D. But I would never call something as horrible as this as "anime style". Those... "things" are hardly human... the proportions are all wrong.

There're some attempts to mix anime style into Western animations... Teen Titans (the TV series) is one example. The first season's plot is for kids... but starting from 2nd season it's pretty good as it gets more serious (and I kind of like the style).

I would also mention I *love* one of the styles of Western animation: I would call it the "Batman style". Simplicity and style rolled into one, a perfect combination so simple yet so expressive. It's probably used in Superman first, but Batman (except the newest one) also used it and I like Batman a lot more. Samurai Jack used a similar style and it absolutely rocks (among all the great stuff of SJ).

P.S. I often heard an alternative definition of "anime": Animations from Japan.

Actually you say that : BoBoBoBo Bo BoBo (A.K.A. Bo x7)

It was dubbed in national TV for kids, and its SO random that I wonder why people watch it
Its supposed to be funny but english "hanged man" type of humor is better than that

I could keep on going to rant, but there can be a positive comments lurking inside my mind on this show so I won't  ::)
