Cheibriados is the guy who's just asleep every class. Nemlex is a conman.

Oh my god. That's why I love playing a Chei follower.

I was going to say "that's why I loved playing with Chei", but then I though about it ... :/

Zin, TSO and Elvylion are the Bible clique, ie the most boring kids in the school.

Elvy's boring, but Zin and TSO have enough restrictions to be aggravating. They remind me of the 'straight-edge' types, who dress like hardasses and give you a 20-minute lecture for drinking caffeine or whatever.
20-minute lectures fit Zin, but I feel like TSO would probably just smash the cup out of your hands

Chei is definitely a stoner; a class-sleeper is either a stoner or a partyer, and Chei is not one to stay up for an all-night weekday kegger.

Oka is the jock. He might get into the occasional fight but he'll get a drink with you afterward.

Trog is the kind of kid who is constantly getting into fights and "disrespects conventional authority." The only authority he recognizes is forces and if you disrespect him, or have something he wants, he and his trogbros will fuck you up.. He fights dirty insofar as he doesn't recognize the distinction between a "fair fight" or otherwise. He's the kind of kid that would be in a gang if he wasn't in some hick pure whitebread town in rural Canada.

Fedhas is the flower[GENDERNOTRECOGNIZED], the hippy. Not so much "love and peace, man" but lots of plants and some wiccan beliefs.

Ash is just forgotten. No one remembers this person, wasn't there for the yearbook photos so all that appears is a white "X" on a black background. Didn't sign any yearbooks, ever, no extracurricular mentions. Ends up hitchhiking and backpacking back and forth across the world forever; speaks the major language in every region of the world and has working knowledge of pretty much everything you can think of. (This isn't really the right flavor for Ash but I don't really know how you'd work in knowledgeable but cursed. I guess the alternative is a really intelligent kid but really clumsy; not the bookish type of Sif but sort of a prodigy at everything.)

I was kinda pegging Ash as the snitch; he knows everything that goes on and it gets him into trouble constantly. You keep meeting him when he's dangling from the flagpole by his underpants.

I see Ash as the sort of kid with a run-down laptop that's full of abandonware and viruses, a ripped hand-me-down uniform, some natty shoes he replaces every few years and an out-of-date haircut that occaisionally starts sentences with "By the way...." and something incontravertably helpful comes out his mouth. Sort of the un-cool kid, yet just wonders around to any clique. So poor (but not giving a shit about it), that he's vaguely accepted by all, yet never in any circle. Sort of stinky, yet knowledgeable and helpful, and not really worth picking on. Suprisingly good at some stuff too. Brainy, but has no really nerdish attributes (unless being povo is that attribute).

Congrats to all the tourney winners - nice work getting a top tep placement Champs.

Back in Trunk, I haz a GrWz. Link to full morgue here.

I was getting sick at being shit at GrEE, so decided to start a Wiz and try to maybe work my way towards Earth later. Veh was most obliging, gifting me sandblast early on, then LRD, then MagmaBolt. I have also picked up some skill in Axes, due to a couple of nice finds, and the fact that a bit of melee is always nice, but now I just found a staff of earth at the bottom of Lair and I am kinda like, oh. Guess now is time to stop training axes and think about evo and staves. I don't know, I also have a manual of Ice, a book of Frost, and books of Sky, Fire and Summoning to distract me.

Basically, in the hands of a skilled player, this GrWz could now go on to do basically whatever the hell it feels like (did I mention boots of running from a lair vault?), so I don't know what to do. Part of me wants to keep with the axes, just because I have a lovely axe, but I suspect the staff of earth would be a pretty clear winner in a 'what's the smart move here' competition.

Don't train Evo for a staff of earth.
Earth is the worse of all elemental staff as far as his "brand" go for hitting. It's like it does a secondary attack, except it hits against AC separately, and does less damage than the normal staff. Wield it for the earth booster, but don't count on it to make damage otherwise ;)

HUh, its true AC is checked by SoEarth, but I remember it being pretty awesome in melee from previous EE I have played - but then those guys would have had a lot more Earth skill than I do at the moment maybe.

If you're relying more on spells for dangerous combat than melee, and specifically earth spells, the staff is probably the better pick for wielding, and you can wear a buckler to boost your defenses for only 5 shield skill levels. Wouldn't be able to quickly take out your axe if you got a shield on though. You'd have to remove the shield to swap to the axe.

Battleaxe doesn't look all that great to me, it's an artifact (right?) with less than great damage enchants and not amazing resistances. From what I remember of gargoyles that rPois is useless for you. You could enchant your own axe and come out with -1 acc for trade off of +5 damage, if you got a battleaxe of flaming and enough scrolls, that is.

From what I heard an earth staff is a useful tool for killing weak popcorn mobs later on without wasting mp or nutrition, or making tons of noise. I've heard it could be better than that, but don't expect to go pure melee with it and live long or something. I never got an EE to live long enough to get a staff of earth, so I have no experience with it, personally. Would totally use it to bash mobs to death though if I got it, it sounds like too much fun.

Keep the artifact axe for swamp : there are hydras there.
And you don't even need 5 shield for buckler if you focus on magic : the skill needed in much less to negate the spellcasting penalties.

Here's a question, do Reflect Missiles and Deflect Missiles stack now that they only dispel on a per-hit basis?

The main purpose of elemental staves is boosting your spell damage. A staff of earth is not a bad weapon, but unlike the other elemental staves it basically checks against AC twice (the staff and 'brand') and it's resisted by most enemies. It used to be incredibly OP without the AC check. It still deals a lot of damage, but it requires spending a ton of exp to get the most out of it.

Here's a question, do Reflect Missiles and Deflect Missiles stack now that they only dispel on a per-hit basis?

No.
