Woah hey! Crawl's got boobs?

Just thought of a sure fire way to win an ascii vs graphics arguement.  Graphic's got boobs.  And from now on I'll never take a stance on such debate.

Been doing a lot of Deep Elf wizards lately. They are a fun class due to the fact that they start with more mp than hp. :D
Sort of a "can I kill them before they reach me and touch me and kill me instantly" kind of thing.

I prefer the ASCII version.  I keep having to change system settings for it, though.  :\

@shome, hahaha holy crap, that is awesome.

Yeah, that's one of the coolest entrances I've seen. Too bad it doesn't work on tiles, hehe. Though the one with the skeletons submerged in water is rather nice, too. I always mean to come up and dig the doods up for a fair fight, but either forget or die on d:4.

I decided for variety's sake to try a DEWi on trunk. Did pretty well in the beginning, cleared lair and the main dungeon down to d:17, but since I'd found the book of power Vehumet granted me Annihilations directly. As cool as Orb is, and as much survivability as it grants, for a character with no rPois and no food shops it turned out to be certain death. Especially on the last level I had to make some pretty desperate maneuvers like attacking hill giants in melee without a single point in fighting (too late did I figure out that dodging saps away most of my experience when engaging in melee).

I didn't die of hunger, but I was starving, with no chunks at all and a seven-headed hydra beating on me.

Still, I'm satisfied. Back to berserkers it is.

Edit : Oh god, my first ever Okawaru run that goes beyond d:7.. the bastard gives me as his third gift : "The +3 Crystal Plate Mail Sayntupn (god gift, str +1, dex -4)". Why doesn't Trog ever give me randart Exec Axes?

What a strange and beautiful world I beheld, but dangerous too, I was certain. And I was friendless and homeless. And so I prayed.
"Hear me, exalted spirits. Hear me be you gods or devils, ye who hold dominion here. I am a wizard without a home. I am a wanderer seeking refuge."

I have a good feeling about this guy.  He found a Gnoll fortress on level 4, meaning he was level 7 before leaving.  He also found Okawaru just before, meaning his piety's really high.  Now he's getting attacked by lots and lots of Kobolds, or as I call them, "Piety on legs".

Oh my god... another kobold room.  Only this one is chock full of Big Kobolds, that give a huge amount of xp for such an easy monster.  Yes, this is the character I'm destined to win with! AHAHAH!

Don't think I can take on this centaur place though, even with boots of levitation.

Does anyone know how do you change your doll's appearance and sex in the tiles version? I just noticed my demonspawn doll is female and boobs on demonspawns when I change the robes bother me >:C

I don't think you have the choice. Some races are always male, some are always female, I think.

If your 2d sprite having breasts really bothers you, I would say you have a larger problem at hand. =/

What, you like looking at pixelated boobs? I'm not the one with a problem here then.

Anyway, found it. This guy's a winner, lv 7 demonspawn venom mage, doing great so far, mephitic cloud is such an awesome crowd control spell. I also got pretty lucky with mutations so far, except for fast metabolism, but I managed to get carnivore lv1, meaning I can eat meat even when not full and still eat vegetables and fruits when I need to.

I sorta didn't want to pick Sif Muna as a god, but hell, it helps.

Yes, but that's not the point. I'm saying you are insecure about your masculinity if you get upset about your 2d avatar having breasts. To be honest I assumed they were all male because the bodies are so tiny and pixelated that you can hardly even tell whether one is female, male, or just wearing a T-shirt, which just stresses my point (in my mind) of how being so sensitive about something so inconsequential should worrisome. Ask yourself... why does this bother me? But I digress. This is Other Games not Other Minds.

It's not entirely unreasonable to want to set your character's gender.  Although it doesn't really matter.

I agree. It isn't unreasonable, and it doesn't really matter. I was surprised, but not upset, that it wasn't an option, where as this fellow seems genuinely upset to the point where he can't play/does not like to play a race because of it.

Now that I think about it, it doesn't have to be a masculinity thing either. Some people are very particular about congruity.

So you actualy bothered doing a pseudo-intelectual analysis over a joke? Lol
I'm not insecure of my masculinity sirrah, in fact I'm so certain of it that I'm gay :P

On topic: Tsh, it seems it changes at random, everytime you change your armor on tiles your character sprite may change between the availiable ones for that race.
I got lucky while stumbling around in the lair, I bumped into a +7 +6 Rod of Torment  :o, too bad I sorta suck with maces, and I don't have any protection from torment yet (almost everytime it hits, everyone close enough is damaged aswell, including me).

Any sugestions for spells? I'm a venom mage and currently I have sting, poison bolt and mephitic could as my spells. I got a book of power, book of surveyances and book ot tukima with me. The book of power is full of awesome spells but I'm afraid I sorta suck at casting them atm.

I'm good at conjurations and invocations so far, I need some simple and cheap spells to practice other kinds, and I'm not being lucky with items so far except for the Rod and a few other stuff.

Pseudo-intellectual, huh? You don't know what my background is. As far as you know, I could very well have my doctorate in psychology. Who knows!

Jokes can be very revealing, but you didn't joke: you said that the doll being female and having boobs bothers you, with a very unhappy face after it. You also were pursuing a means of changing it so that you would no longer have to look at the female doll or her boobs. This is a lot of effort for a "joke" which lacked any kind of humorous tone.

I don't think being gay suggests anything about how comfortable with your masculinity you are. In fact, in my experiences (including media of all kinds and personal experiences within vanilla and alternative settings), I have seen gay men range from being incredibly happy with their gender expectations and incredibly distraught by them, including a handful of gay men who are outright disgusted by female anatomy. It sounds like you might leaning in that direction.

So, I assumed you were a straight man who was so sensitive about being perceived as masculine that he couldn't even handle playing a 2D character that is nearly indistinguishable as a female. And I assumed incorrectly. Me = Ass. That'll teach me to assume (you would think), but I treat it all as a learning experience.

On topic, relating to spell choices for a venom mage, I would strongly suggest getting a powerful non-poison conjuration to damage undead and demons. Since you've already got some air skill points from mephitic cloud (I assume) you could try and find some electrical damage spells.

Because putting an emote such as >:C after saying something as incredibly serious as "Does anyone know how do you change your doll's appearance and sex in the tiles version? I just noticed my demonspawn doll is female and boobs on demonspawns when I change the robes bother me >:C", make it a completely and utterly honest statement, amirite?

It's not entirely unreasonable to want to set your character's gender.  Although it doesn't really matter.

I'd rather they continue to add new gods and shit rather than draw every single doll option as the other gender. I mean, you even agree it doesn't matter, so why should they bother at all?
