On the other hand you're a much higher level now so you can kill stronger monsters for way more XP.

More or less so... The example we were using involved a 27 UA troll who just shuffled his INT and STR scores... Not exactly a melee power house.

Yeah... but with high int, the best HP in the game and probably some spell skills already you should be able to survive fine.

Anywho, this is my current puzzle. For those of you who cant read tiles, MiBe player in the middle of ohshitfuck

wut do? I have a wand of tele, but... the entire level is pretty much crawling with naga.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I know I can get out of this. I have enough HP, enough options (haste, tele, BoA, heal wounds, curing, etc), but in what order shall I do this?

I'd, uh...

I'd scroll of fog, dig through the wall (It's not unnaturally hard is it?  I've only done Snake Pit once and I died next to the stairs because I underestimated Constrict.), then haste inside the tunnel and start teleporting guys away from the stairs.

Of course, the only discussion solely derived from wheter the bad aptitudes or the already present weapon skills were more of a barrier to the epic mage's creation.

I think I'd haste first since that'd speed up whatever else you plan to do.  Digging wouldn't be a bad idea at all if you can.  If you can then maybe take cover and summon a bunch of allies?

I got out; TP, scroll of fog, hand of trog, and then heal wounds and I was out.

I did die though. Got all the way down to Vaults: 7 and then took a detour towards Crypt... never again.

On another note, Maxwell's Patent Armor is terrible.

What? Crypt isn't that bad, there's really nothing all that threatening in there unless Khufu spawns or some of the Crypt:5 nasties. Now, if you went to the Tomb, on the other hand...

I'm pretty sure that's in the category of "Crypt:5" nasties.

Ah, I assumed crypt:5 nasties were actually in crypt:5.

Edit:

New trunk is pretty good. Blue items now are either branded or cursed, so you dont have to swap through a hundred magical items anymore. A lot of new tiles, they look nice. Goodbye, terrible jackal tile!

However, Oka got a large nerf. Easy enemies no longer grant piety (or at least barely any). Makes getting piety before lair really hard, and Orc? Prepare to ration heroism. Went in with full piety, I'm down to two stars now. Not getting anything for killing these masses of orcs.

I guess Okawaru has been something of a no brainer for many characters for a while.  I guess that means switching to Makhleb or something instead.

I would hardly have considered Okawaru a "no-brainer". Pretty good, yeah, but far from a no-brainer. Makhleb is pretty good too on a melee character who doesn't cast much, as are a few others.

Eh, the nerf wasn't too bad. The only side effects of the nerf was that Heroism wasn't online as quick as I'd like it to be, Orc should be renamed "death to piety", and I missed out on a couple gifts. Mid-end game is still full of stuff that'll boost your piety back up.

Ew. Trog. I hate trog.
