d, press number desired, press letter of item.

There's no confirmation that you're intending to drop a partial stack except that the symbol will go from - (or +) to #.

Took me a bit to figure that out, too.

Heh, that's exactly the situation I was thinking about when I said "Technically the originals controls are needlessly complex in a couple places, (mostly through weird combinations and poor visual state tracking)", hah. Glad to to see I wasn't the only tripped up by that bit.

I STILL am always dropping things I didn't intend to.

Thanks! I should have figured out that # represented a number, though maybe they could try a little harder with the guide on that one.

I've got my best game ever going right now - which is to say, I've cleared the lair and the orcish mines. HEWZ. I've got mostly conjuration and ice, with some air and poison. Not sure where to go next; I just cleared a labyrinth and got a rod of destruction [fire], three staffs (two of them identical), and some rings, including a -4str +4int SInv ring which I'm hanging on to in case I really need see invis at some point.

Thanks for the tip about the rod, guys!

Read a scroll of acquirement. Was going to go with armor hoping for special plate, but didn't want to run the risk of getting something crap and I knew I could use any rod I got, so... +3 rod of demonology wooh. I've now got mooks to take hits for me!

Edit:

Woooh, just had my first run in with the Abyss thanks to someone hitting me with a weapon of distortion. Took me almost 50 minutes, all my food, about half my scrolls (most burned, mind you), 3 permanent mp, and a decent chunk of piety, but I escaped.

Bluh - I'm sure the guy who distorted me is still around somewhere too...

Just saying, for most characters you should acquire Armour. Generally speaking it gives you useful items and the chances of getting useless stuff is fairly low as long as you have most of your slots filled. Also, that demonology rod is not really useful for summoning demons, but it is for getting rid of summoned demons (or summoned anything for that matter) with Abjuration. The demonic summoning is a nice side benefit, but the real use is the Abjuration.

The abjuration used to be quite good, before mass abjuration came around and normal abjuration was made single target. While they still have some limited use, rods of demonology kinda suck now.

It's still more useful than summoning demons for the most part, though.

Doesn't matter - he's dead now. I escaped from the Abyss, yeah, but I starved to death before getting back to my nearest food stash. :/

What a way to go - enemies weren't the biggest threat, but the abyss ran through 5 meat and 5 honeycombs while wearing an amulet of the gourmand, and I got back only to die of starvation. Fun.

So.... back to playing Octopode transmuters of the bound god for me! :P

So I noticed Minotaurs were buffed. How far? Can anyone give me some details on how good they are now?

I haven't taken a good look at the aptitudes yet, but in my mind they're like mountain dwarves that can't wear helmets (and that have potentially life saving headbutts early game).

Yeah. Their aptitudes got a little better, and they now have a retaliation-headbutt they have a chance to do if they dodge an attack.

For what it's worth: They can't wear helmets, but they can wear caps and hats.

All I can really say is that I just basically waltzed to the end game with my latest MiFi attempt, which was my first go (Well, okay, there was a MiIE that survived way longer than it should have) at them with the changes. Easiest time I've ever had hitting clvl 27.

Gladiator OP nerf gladiator. It's essentially a better fighter.

It's not that gladiator is overpowered; it's that fighter is terrible.
