Jagged Alliance 3.

Sadly, I must post about bad news... :-\

Despite all the horrors, pain and suffering that come right along with war, despite all the needless death, there is still one incontrovertible truth: war is very, very good for business. Most especially when your sole business is war.
Originally scheduled for late 2008, it has been delayed until Q1 2010 for unknown reasons.

It's sad that the country of Severna is being torn apart by no less than five warring states, but at the end of the day you've got to make a living. So, pick a side, get your team together and ship out for the biggest Jagged Alliance world that there's ever been.

Key features:

Five participants in the conflict; four of them playable in campaign mode;
More than a dozen non-linear missions that take place in different weather conditions during both day and night;
A flexible and compelling plot that combines all parties’ actions in a dramatic story;
New 3D engine;
New types of locations and landscapes;
Realistic system of character and building damage;
Cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.

Akella's Jagged Alliance 3, developed by F3 Games, is currently scheduled for Q1 2010.

Random shot in the dark guess.  They're taking the time to convert the game-play to real time.

My random shot in the dark guess.  They're announcing moving the goalpost from the remaining week of this year to two years from now, so people will have forgotten about it when they officially cancel it this summer.  It's probably not even being worked on now.

AFAIK they dropped the studio that was working on it (this studio will release a game with "jagged edge" in its name to capitalize on the work done) and restarted development somewhere else.

That was quite a while ago wasn't it?

Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

http://www.matrixgames.com/products/364/details/Hired.Guns:.The.Jagged.Edge.

That game has nothing to do with the JA serie AFAIK.
Has anyone bought this Hired Guns game? I read some reviews, and most of those were criticizing the game. My overall impression after reading these reviews is, that the game must be quite bad. IIRC this game is using the Silent Storm engine, so I am really suprised about the bad reviews...

From what I've heard, that game was made by the company that was originally making JA3.  They lost the license and made Hired Guns instead.  Meanwhile, another company got contracted to make JA3 and they're using the Silent Storm engine.
