Or download a program to HTTP Tunnel through the firewall. After all, that always works, and would let you see the player.

Firewalls generally do not block outgoing traffic, only incoming. So provided you tunnel outwards, it sees all traffic in the tunnel (or rather, it doesn't) going outwards, regardless of the real packet direction.

A very technical, and yet simple if you understand how it works, solution is to set up an SSH tunnel to some other server and use the tunnel as a SOCKS proxy. It's how I get around my school's filter.
