Different Glass Types

(1/2) > >>

The Devouring Plague:
So, say with black sand you'd get smoky glass...Yeah, that's it. ._.

BurnedToast:
we already have the raw materials to make a ton of different colors of glass. I assume toady is just waiting till he adds the glass furnace to the raws like he did the other furnace (which, I understand, won't be for quite some time).

penguinofhonor:
Ah, "make green glass" would be replaced with "make impure glass" or whatever? So that different types of sand would yield different colors of glass? Awesome.

rkyeun:
I'd be happy if you could make glass of any color by adding one or more milled dyes to clear glass (change clear glass's color to white). And change the default "green glass" to "smoky white glass" (bright gray).Dimple: Clear Blue (bright blue)
Dimple + Sliver: Smoky Blue (dark blue)
Dimple + Emerald: Clear Cyan (bright cyan)
Sliver: Smoky Gray (dark gray)
Emerald + Redroot + Sliver: Smoky Yellow (brown)
etc. This way you can color-coordinate your glass fortress!   :D[ January 12, 2008: Message edited by: rkyeun ]

Organic molecules would burn away long before the glass was tinted a color. The only way glass is tinted is with the addition of non-combustable impurities, like cobaltite (cobalt ore; blue) or pitchblende (uranium ore; [glowing] green)[ January 12, 2008: Message edited by: Mechanoid ]
