Post on the local forums, find out what's going on in local politics, and ally with the first House you see.

EDIT: Bah. I wouldn't be surpised if I go into mining and find out that all planets have monopolies except for the unexplored planets. This makes me a tad upset. Maybe I go to mysticism and just provide cheap lesiure. I mean, there's only a couple of Imperial cults right now. Maybe I can bring the same amount of activity to Imperium Nova as maniac has brought to eThailand.

... I have never set foot in eThailand so you shouldn't have too much of a challenge there.  And btw, it's mainiac.  Unless... is there someone in eThailand who looks just like me, but with an evil beard?

I took a second look at Imperium Nova, it looks interesting and I think the small galaxy size could avert the danger of being lost in an ocean of playerbase.  But I'd be more inclined if I could join knowing that some of the people around me wouldn't be total bastards.  Is it possible to get a group of players all in the same region of a galaxy together?

mainiac is always a little sarcastic, at least.

It appears that the galaxy you join is random, so we won't have much luck forming a large alliance.  Just a tip, choosing matriarchy would appear to make you a more desirable candidate for marriages since most people are patriarchies and marriages between two the two separate lineages are mutually beneficial.  At least, that's from my limited playing for less than 24h perspective.

I'm in the Eridanus galaxy BTW.

Evil beard?  Nah, he'd be wearing an ipatch.

Unfortunately, I don't see any way to choose starting galaxy.  If there is, I'm definitely joining.

Wha?  You have to choose a gender?  Are options other than mat/pat-riarchies?

Because if not, I'm so posing as a girl to get free stuff.

No, you control a dynasty.  You start with a head of the family, their spouse, a couple adult cousins, and some kids.  You as the player represent the whole noble house, not just the leader.

Cool.  I'm still wondering if matriarchy or patriarchy are my only options.

Yes, I could just sign up now, but I'm getting enough junkmail already without giving my email to another gamepage.

Yeah, they are your only options.

The galaxy is Fornux.
The monopoly issues are over.

I'm biting the bullet.  I registered an account and I'm making a house.  Galaxy: Baade.

Question: Why is my entire royal family halfwits and dullards?  The only intellectual is the husband of my ruler, and he's an abysmal administrator.  Is this some kind of newb hobbling system?

Already did.  My new royal family is pretty dysfunctional, but they're bright and competent enough for learning the game.

Big question: Why does my session timeout every 45 freaking seconds?

Er. I have a problem confusing you with E. Albright. Ealb has a following in eThailand. Not you. Sorry.

EDIT: Can we aid people in other galaxies? If we can't, well...

EDIT2: I'm in the Transportion sphere now. ugh. Maybe I'm going to call it quits.

I'm in the Merchant sphere, and I'm not going to be able to play it.  Why?  Because I figured out what kept logging me off every minute.

Having the site open in more than one tab.

Which needless to say, makes comparing goods prices on different planets nigh impossible, thus ruining my chances at or interest in building a trade empire.  Also, a trade outpost on another planet I ordered built eight hours ago isn't half done yet.

Hm. I wonder what would happen if there would be "Board Game" called Imperium Nova, where it would play just like Imperium Nova, but just on a webboard. Same exact rules as Imperium Nova, just, you know...on a board. Roleplay action without the (admittingly long) wait!
