Alright, Heres the pretty version of my story. No name for it yet, any suggestions?
A blinding light entered Reg's eyes. "Ah..wha.. Is it Avusalod already?" Reg sat up from his
bed, an old splintered wooden mattress, barely fit to be used as a table, let alone a bed. As
his eyes adjusted to the light Reg saw Bomrek, his best friend since he was a child, siting there
holding a small iron lantern. "No its not Avusalod yet, its Brewsday morning!". Reg gave Bomrek a
surprised look, which quickly melted into anger. Reg quickly glanced at the large waterclock
embedded into his wall, It was government issue, exactly on time, and controlled by the
administraters in the High Catacomb, Reg always suspected the admins had these built in to
increase the steady stream of coins into their coffers, not the happiness of their people, but,
as a hauler, it wasn't his place to think of such things.
"Bomrek, its felsite and a half in the morning, you know I never get up this early on my day off.
Now get your ass out of my room and let me sleep." Reg got up out of his bed, quickly partway
lifted Bomrek onto his legs, and was pushing him tords the door. "Wait listen you blasted fool!
Look at the calendar!" Reg closed his eyes, and brought his fist up to head height into the air
and almost growled. He quickly turned around and looked at the rock slab leaning against his
small gabbro coffer. He looked at the slab with a sleepy fascination and turned back to face his
friend with an unconcerned look "Its the 26 of Hematite, who care-" He quickly stopped himself in
midsentance, mouth open, eyes as big as caveswallow eggs.
"Wait" was all he could mutter. He quickly spun himself back around, this time almost jumping
onto the slab, his eyes fixated at the clean cut white stone. His wide gape quickly turned into a
huge smile, so wide that you'd almost think his mouth to be a huge cave on the side of an
equally huge mountain if it weren't for all the flat shining teeth. Reg felt his body burst with
sudden energy, so much so that he hopped up onto his feet and started dancing. "Its here! Its
finally here! You ol' Soaper you why didn't you tell me the Dwarfitorium was coming to our
Sector!"Bomrek sighed and sat down on the only stool in Reg's home. While Reg was scrambling for
his coin sack Bomrek looked around his friend's room.
There was the bed, so old and splintery that no one knows what wood its made from any more. The
Gabbro cabinet, the gabbro coffer, the small statue of Thol, Reg's god, in the corner. His floor
could hardly be considered smooth, Reg couldn't afford professional engravers to come and smooth
out this place, hell, he would be lucky if he could even FIND a professional engraver in this
sector, so Reg decided to just do it himself, took him months to finish, but he did it. Not very
well of course, though. The ground had numerous holes where pieces of the rock broke off as Reg
chiseled, the walls were no better. His work could be compared to that of a Giant Molerat. Even
the government issued waterclock was looking bad, the clear glass was beginning to chip at the
bottom, probably from repeated collisions with the door. This house just wasn't designed for such
a modern thing to be placed in it. He'll have to remember to bring it up at the next section
gathering.
Bomrek was looking at a square of leather hanging off the wall, on it was a painting of a
dwarven family, it wasn't the best piece of art Bomrek had ever seen, but it was decent. It
depicted a young Reg and a his mother and father. Bomrek quickly turned his gaze to Reg, he
had his coin sack hung over his shoulder, and in his hands he held a medium sized iron chest.
"What's in the box?" Asked Bomrek as he braced himself on his pick and stood up. "Have a look
for yourself." Reg said, opening the chest. It was filled almost to the brim with odd nick-
nacks A few old metal mechanisms, a few rock crystals, numerous dwarven dominos scattered
about the chest, and some flat pieces of Olivine, fetches a nice price on the surface, a
rather large chunk of Tetrahedrite, and a leather sack. Reg sat his chest down on the ground
and pulled the leather container out and spilled its contents onto his hand.
Bomrek laughed and said "Marbles? Where in the 23 sectors did you find those? They'll fetch a
nice price at the Dwarfitorium Market." Bomrek said, taking the marbles from his friend and
examining them one by one. "A crate broke open just before my shift ended yesterday, This sack
and a few other fancy things were inside. That guy Ustuth just started grabbing things, so I
grabbed what I could." Bomrek smiled and handed the marbles back to Reg. "Come on, we should go,
don't want to miss the Dwarfitorium do you?". Reg pulled the chest up and followed Bomrek out the
door and down the hallway of his apartment complex.
