Because of Dwarf Fortress, I learned what the true meaning of the phrase "power corrupts" is.

This game gives a lot of power to the player.

And when we look at the common DF player...

^ Those aren't too bad, just a lot messier when opening the package than their little candy counterparts. Higher protein, too.

I spent my last week's lunch breaks watching them redig the pond outside my workplace.  And realized I could do it better and safer.

...I have developed a strong dislike for nobles (of any kind). Everytime I hear/talk about nobles, I think "Where the nearest magma... wait.. this isn't DF..."

... earlier this week I missed the turn for my office because a careless truck driver almost hit me by crossing over the center line turning from a driveway, and I thought "Reese cancels drive to office, interrupted by reckless driver."

... I think about DF machinery designs while driving to/from work.

... I've had more than one day where I had significantly less sleep than i need thanks to playing DF to 3am.

...I wrote a diary based on the record keeper. A fire imp dragged him into magma and I had to include the phrase "IT BURNS" on the final entry.

...I learned that vermin are all related and have teleportation. So THAT'S how they get in houses...
