This fortress is for the people!  And as such YOU the people make the mandates.  I relay what the Dwarfs want and need most and you mandate how to get it done.

I've chosen some random Good aligned mountains for a peaceful mountain retreat where:

• Dwarfs don't die
• [Community Identities Encouraged]
• All Dwarfs are Equal
• Socialist Programs Mandated as need Arise.
• If the Socialism should fail: Then the peoples representative, (aka: Myself) shall be replaced.

Failure of Socialism occurs when 3 or more dwarfs go melancholy within a single year.  Or 6 or more Dwarfs die within a single year, (Dwarf Traders, Liaisons and Children Included.) At which point anyone can jump in and Post: FAILURE OF SOCIALISM and take my place.

I: The peoples representative have announced to the board that our new City is about to be founded.  But first the people need to know what to bring to ensure our mutual safety and comfort.

Wow, that's actually rather fun- I see why the Nobles do it.

Well then, in all seriousness here's your first orders:

I want you to have Glorious Barracks of the Peoples with many of the Fine Wooden Beds for the better sleeping of the proletariat! Have it be Dug post-haste, Comrade!

And as we begin I come to the realization that the Nobles Mandates were reasonable compared to these lots.  They ask me to build a barracks when we haven't even set forth to our destination yet.

Ignoring their mandate, (atleast until we get to the location.)  I select our starting equipment myself.

• A Proficient Consoler/Pacifier, who will hear the pleas of the people.
• A Proficient Carpenter to make those beds that were requested.
• It would be unfair to alienate the Surf's so the rest of the populace is peasantry.
• Sufficient food and booze to satisfy the masses.

We have arrived!  To the Dwarf Fortress of United Kingdom.

The Peoples needs always come first!  Our barracks has been planned and started.





But the people need to sleep, and I won't tolerate them sleeping on rough rock or in a damp cave.  Until the interior is smoothed properly they will rest comfortably in a wooden cabin!  Nearby pixies glide by, a true testament to the tranquil life of our Socialist Plan.




The Peoples Representative requests feedback on the best way to begin our fortress proper.

To facilitate the informational cravings that dwarves seem to experience so often I propose that the Dwarf who deals most often with the community have his role changed to the Minister of Information. To be useful and productive our Information Minister must always tell the dwarves the good things about our society, not necessarily the true things. This is for the greater good of the Socialist Dwarven Race and the post must be upheld diligently. No need to be worried, Comrades, just because we will call this dwarf a Minister does not mean he/she is better than you in any way, just that he/she will have different responsibilities.

Oh, and if at all possible could we call this dwarf Vyacheslav Molotov?

Taken by Sudden Urges Vieto starts carving pieces of rocks into rings and Vyacheslav suddenly starts doing hardly anything at all!

Do not fear, it does not mean he is better than you overall just that he is better than you with LEGOs and mechanisms; he's horrible with everything else.
