I agree with that, although Guinness is my favorite commercial beer.

Guinness is definitely my favourite beer. I get the cans occasionally but it just isn't the same as draught.

Speaking of beer, I recently tried an Apricot Wheat Ale by St. Ambroise. The hint of apricot gives it a refreshingly different taste without taking away from its beerness. It is a good beer to have with lunch  ;D

Hmm. I should go buy a huge crate of cheap beer and set it on fire.

That sounds really good to me. I like apricot.

I'm not sure I'm ready to experiment with making fruit beers though, just because the brew can apparently explode, occasionally...

Maybe dried apricots would work, though? I'll have to think about that.

Here's a beer I'd love to try:

Yanlin: I've used 91% rubbing alchohol to light bonfires before. Works like a charm.

I have access to almost pure alcohol. But what's the fun in burning beer if it's not beer?

I can't say for certain whether beer will actually burn, though...

The highest APV I've seen for any beer has only been 13%, or 26 proof, for the Dark Lord.

I guess if you boiled it down for long enough, you'd eventually scorch the pan you were boiling it down in. Considering how much sugar there must be in the Dark Lord, it probably wouldn't take that long...but oh! what a waste!

Well, we could do that, but...suppose-just suppose-we were to, I don't know, drink the beer...and then light firecrackers and throw them at stuff, instead?

I was at a friend's 18th birthday at some restaurant, and they had a pretty good selection of beers.
I had a bottle of Leffe blonde ale and a pint of Ruddles.
I liked that restaurant.

What are you going to do, hm? I know all your recipes! Mwhahah!

Anyways.
Brewing beer sounds fun. What suggestion of a good kit that costs low and ships near California?

Calvin: I like my MrBeer kit (just google it). It's pretty cheap, and good for starting out. Once you know what you're doing, it can be a little constrictive, but it's great for learning the basics on, and just for making decent drinking beer (maybe not the best in the whole wide world, but worlds better than the store-bought stuff).

The fermenters are only 2 gallons, so it'll fit right in a dorm fridge or a large cooler. (a little too small for me, anymore...I'd love to have a larger fermenter, but I want a stainless steel one, and they're expensive).

They also have around 180 different recipes on their website, so if you can stand to drink beer at all, you ought to be able to find a recipe that appeals to you.

My maternal grandfather was a brewer- not just beer, he worked in soft drink factories too.

Anyhow, he actually had a seperate FRIDGE for his homebrew- he even installed a tap in the door so he didn't have to bother opening it.

He was an awesome, awesome man, or so I believe- he died before I was born.
