You need the ' ' around the letters. Otherwise the game looks for a preset file called M. And there isnt one called M ^_^. There is a 249 though, but thats used in roaches and other various insects.

Oo, [SIEGER] and [BABYSNATCHER]?  That's bad.  Sieger cancels out all other siege related tags.  Babysnatcher will also enable sieges.  If you want them to automatically be at war with you, I think you want to add the [EVIL] tag to the civ entry.  That seemed to work for my Skakdi in the LEGO mod.

It's not the size that counts! It's how many you can fit on one map that counts!
Case in point: Zerglings.

But yes, higher numbers increase size.
