Magma stopped being hot?
« on: March 11, 2009, 01:07:58 am »

I have a simple population control device consisting of a bridge over 2 layers of magma.

The first time I operated it, the recruits all "died in the heat". The second time I operated it, the recruits all "drowned" though the unit screen shows them as on fire when they died.

I'm channeling out layers above and the stones (siltstone) which fall down are all sitting in the bottom layer, not melting for half a year. The stuff under my garbage chute goes molten almost instantly. What happened to this magma?

There was some discussion about this a while back. http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=31271.0

It was claimed that:
There is a known bug that if you drop enough animals in the magma it "breaks it". The animals will swim through the magma until you reload. Had you perchance pitted some kittens or something earlier to help your fps?

Gahhh. I did. I ... assumed it had something to do with 'climate' temperature like freezing/hot biomes. Figures it's ALL TEMPERATURE EVER.
